yeah i agree the stock gear boxes are quite unreliable. at first they were fine. But now i have to check constatly that they arent overtightened becasue it casues binding in your gears badly .. therefore slowing you down.
Getting my square ones 2morro !!! YIPPI!
Tarnjit
PS: Square also make the new rear uprights in red!

my car is weighing in at 1408 last time i checked with GPs and dodge2,
got 47g of weight on the left side to balance the car out , the rest running down the top deck
quite mad really, i hope the gearboxs and 3 piece prop add some weight
Tarnjit
PS: nice ride!

Wow, that's quite a bit of weight difference. I've got GP3300 batteries, LRP Quantum Pro ESC, LRP Phaser Comp Rx and a Futaba 9550.
Perhaps my paint is too thick!

countersunk top deck.. no centre brace except for a front aliminium one, no battery straps ( i use glass fibre tape ).
useing a diff in the front. errr

yeah , Ti shafts and Axles are on my list. decrease that rotational mass is a key way to get some speed i think.
Any idea were you can get red ti axles! lol

Do you have a picture of your car, so I can better visualise what you mean?
Cheers, Mark.

Another great weight saving is to use the new titanium wheel axels from Tamiya. They are much lighter than the stock steel ones. Plus the weight you save there is unsprung weight and it should help your handling.

How is the handling affected with the removal of the centre brace?

well i didnt really notice much but its supposed make the chassis more forgiveing , so easier over bumps and so on. As its been quite damp/wet/icey raceing in the UK at the moment i thought ti would be worth takeing out so my car will feel better.
i set FTD last 3 meets in the wet
no , not becasue i removed the brace...
..
just thought id say it!
Its so satisfying to see the look on peoples face when they realise they were beat by a tamiya!
