I think you will eventually like it. Perhaps from your perspective, it looked like the class was converting to rubber tires rather than resurrecting a dead class by changing the configuration a bit. TQ was one of the last places I know of that was still running WGT so I can understand the shock of switching to these tires.

It's slower but fun...
Perhaps Sean will allow 13.5t motors for this class. I found it to be a blast when I tested it last year cuz you are closer to the limit with these tires.

Hint: Use tire warmers if you test in the morning. TQ can be pretty cold.

Has anyone ever thought making this class 13.5? I know thats what we ran when it was foam tire, but I'm just wondering how harry it would be with rubber tires.

Dumper tested 13.5 previously and made posts about it. I tried it on carpet and did not like it...Hairy!

I tried it on multiple occasions and Loved it!
Last Sunday I tested it again at Speedworld which is a very smooth asphalt track in Roseville Ca. It was awesome! I then took it a step further and ran turbo to get more speed down the long straight. The car was dialed. I though at first that it would push really bad into the sweeper but the opposite happened because the aero features of the body became effective.
Many of the other drivers commented on how well it drove on this layout.

IMO, 17.5 is pretty boring as the car never really feels close to the limit and you are on the throttle 98% of the time. It's time for 13.5t if we want the class to grow.

The guys at our local carpet track, Banana Raceway, all wanted to run 13.5, so that is what we have been running. It's a small tight track, CRC black carpet. Grip is usually really good. We have 7-9 cars and everyone seems to like it. On this tight track, the cars need to be able to turn really well. I like both 17.5 and 13.5. I would run either one. Ran 17.5 at IIC in Vegas.

On our smallish track at HoBMax in N.C., 17.5 WGTR is a little slow and boring because the cars are very smooth and too easy to drive. 13.5 would be a definite improvement.

I have a 13.5 motor in my box that I think I'm going to try. Not sure if I can get to it this weekend as it's an Access Hobbies points race weekend in Springfield Ohio, but I'm definitely going to try it out. If it doesn't work out then I'll know and at least I gave it a chance.

I have run it multiple times. It works just fine. When changing motors was brought up, people got upset, so it stayed the same. We had talked about running 17.5 on tracks 79 feet and shorter and 13.5 on tracks 80 foot and longer......

That's probably a good rule of thumb.
Our track is 100' X 48'.
