For TC, most use Jacos.

I use the newer "2 stage" tire/wheels which only come in one type for both ends...simple...being orange/pink/pink (front) and pink/pink (rear).

A lot run Parma Cyan and Magenta as well as Parma Purple and Plaid, most run Jaco.

I was playing with some Speed Mind Hybrid 3 Fronts and 35 shore rears. It worked pretty well.

Only issue with the double stages has been to much grip, there were many ppl who had tried them at snowbirds, me included, and went back the normal Double Pink Orange, Double Pink.

You will need to adjust your setup if you go with two stage. If you have the time great, if you dont stay with non two stage

and stating the obvious, if you aren't using Jack the Gripper on a high volume day, the traction will be totally different, and thus the tire choice

Race suggestions to make things go smoothly.

1. If the traction compound is going to be Jack the Gripper make you that is the ONLY compound used on the track from now on. If some guys are running Niftec and a few guys use TQ you are going to have problems. If there are a mix of compounds on the track the first day of practice will be a disaster.

2. When you design a layout do a normal NorCal layout. The race layout should represent the local style of racing. Thats why the Nats rotate around the country. So racers can see how its done in diffrent places. If we wanted to race on 60x40 mazes with 4 foot lanes all the time the Carpet Nats would always be in the Midwest.

Speaking of choices, will Speedworld have their hobby shop set up at the Carpet Nats? If so, I am sure that Billy will have pleanty of tire options if someone does not bring the correct tire.

i agree totally on both points.

1. Mixing traction compounds causes slippery slime (not a good thing)

2. If the NorCal style is not to have 'width check chicanes' and narrow lanes, don't bend to the pressure to do so for the Nat's

Hey guys fear not. We are minimizing the traction compounds used. We no longer sell TQ Max (Orange) at the track and there are very few people running it any more. most are now using Niftech and we don't need to worry about anything mixing with Niftech because it does not stay in the carpet long enough to be a concern. As far as track style and layouts. It will not be a pipe maze and it will not be a 12' lane super freeway. For the most part all the layouts we've been running on are 5 lane tracks on a 98'x48' track. 10' main strait and 8' and 9' lanes everywhere else. The style of layout will be a Nor Cal Stockton layout with a good mix or technicality and speed so that it is a great racing track and not a driving track.

The hobby shop for the nationals will be provided by Billy Bowerman of Speedworld Hobbies. Anyone that knows Billy knows it will be a first rate job and their will choices for tires if you don't bring the right ones.

Look to our www.2006roarnats.com website after the first of the month for a full schedule for the race and the facility and track layout for the nationals.
