The rule of thumb I go by is this: if the car attempting to pass can get his front tire in front of the leaders rear tire, the leader should heed the corner to him. If not, the passer should back off and follow through the corner.

So how do you know who has a spool vs. oneway vs. diff?
I say we just put huge stickers on our cars that say "Super Fast" "Fast" "Nervous Driver" "Thinks he's fast" "hacker"

i agree 100% with this. the "whoever is in front has the right of way" does not work for RC, because at most levels the leader will not yield if they've inadvertently allowed someone to get inside. nascar, f1, cart/irl...they yield the line when someone gets inside becuase their day will be over if they don't. many of your better, and cleaner, rc drivers do this same thing (especially during qualifying).

me too, if you get your nose past the back of his car then you have the inside line and if he crosses in front and gets spun off it his fault for not holding his line.

I agree. In scale racing, the good drivers always check up if they can see the nose of the car passing on the inside. Since they are looking "through" the corner, they will see the inside cars bumper when its front tire is passing their rear tire. With RC vehicles the outside car always loses the battle even though both normally continue on without breaking anything.

Simple... he who avoids the inevitable crash has the line. Racing isnt about the "right of way", its about getting around the track without fault. This in itself gives a driver fast laptimes. Its up to you to be agressive and take that chance, knowing your opponents "line" from previous laps, or being polite and pressure him by being under his wing, stealing his rear grip, and then his position. Patience. Its hard to have it when tenths of a second are whizzing by on the clock.

Well spoken Dave.

In the mains, we should all make sure we wait for the other driver that we passed if we've been a little too aggressive and punted them though.

seems to me if these two drivers have enough trust in each other to enter the s section side by side, then i would assume they would be good enough to remain side by side through out the section. if you don't trust the guy your racing, then pick a better spot to make your move.

that was the question wasn't it, side by side, cause if it wasn't i have another answer.
