Welcome to the SCT410.3 Wiki!

7.26.17 - BB
In order to run the recommended team setup, you need the following optional parts:
TKR6106 Orange LF Springs
TKR6114 Green LF Springs
TKR6018 composite shock caps (built to emulsion) OR TKR8702 Aluminum Emulsion Shock caps
TKR8027 Shock Stand Offs
TKR6051 8x1.3 pistons(drilled to 1.4mm)
TKR8104 .4 bellcranks
TKR8100 .4 ackerman
TKR5545B HRC Hubs
You also need the Aluminum C Block (others can stay composite)

What option parts should I consider buying with a new kit?
None are required but we recommend the following:

TKR5161 – V2 Adjustable Hinge Pin Brace “A” block, 7075 CNC, EB/NB/ET/NT/SCT) - Helps to improve durability on hard crashes.

TKR5163 – V2 Adjustable Hinge Pin Brace “C” block, 7075 CNC, EB/NB/ET/NT/SCT) - Helps to improve durability on hard crashes.

TKR5545B – HRC Rear Hubs (L/R, CV or uni, SCT.3/SL) - Improves stability of the rear on mid to corner exit. Allows harder acceleration on corner exit.

TKR6146 - CNC Delrin Shock Cartridge Set

TiNi Shock Shafts
-TKR6004T (front)
-TKR6017T (rear)

What spare parts should I keep on hand?
TKR5020 – Hinge Pins (inner, front/rear)
TKR5516 – Front Suspension Arms and TKR5515 – Rear Suspension Arms
TKR5542 – Spindle Carriers - TKR5541B Spindles
TKR6009 – Shock O-Ring and Bladder Set (for 2 shocks)

Tips and Tricks

List of Vehicle Setup Adjustments and Build Tips can be found here. There are several videos and articles detailing the building of shocks, diffs, camber links, etc.

Use steering stops/limiter washers... more info here.

Setup Sheets:
Setup sheets for all Tekno RC vehicles can be found here. Please be sure to try our recommended setup. It works very well on most tracks.

Hinge Pin Insert Chart:

Warranty Policy:
Tekno RC is the only company in the industry that will give 50% off of parts if returned to them using the General Warranty return policy found on their website. The parts can be lightly used or completely abused, as long as the part is still being produced it's covered!

Piston Drills:
Some of our setups recommend using pistons that are enlarged. For instance 4x1.9 or 3x2.0. To drill the pistons we recommend the following:
GMK Supply Piston Drill Set
16PC Metric Bit Set Metric Sizes 2.00 to 3.00 MM.

a set screw will definitely take care of the issue but I believe it would ruin the threads on the main screw also. When ever you back out the main screw it will ruin the plastic threads in the part. I guess for a little longer term solution it will work but be prepared to replace all the pieces if you ever have to pullt he screw out. The screws always back out on mine also so I just check every few runs

I have a sct410.3 and a sct410. I have most of the basic upgrade parts to bring the 410 up to the 410.3 specs. Is the angled rear gearbox a worthwhile update? And are there any modifications needed to run the lcg motor mount? Thanks!

So what seems to be the hot ticket for carpet springs?

The angled gear box will help minimize the wear on your rear drive shaft and outdrives. The lcg motor mount is drop in. No mods required to fit in a standard SCT motor. If you want to run a 1/8 motor then you have to trim one of the screw holes on the side guard.

Are all the upgrade parts worth the money and effort? Or should I just practice more with my existing setup (one of Jeremy McGuigan's) . I'm debating this in my mind right now. A fast guy at the track did all the upgrades but he's fast regardless of the tricks.

Springs are something that are worth dialing in. Depends on track conditions some are better suited for different conditions...generally stiffer ones do better on smoother higher grip surfaces and softer for rougher and looser situations.

The aluminum hinge pin braces are a good upgrade for durability reasons. The front A block is usually the first to go IME.

I never broke a steering rack but have heard other people doing so. The aluminum option would be a durability upgrade.

Most of the upgrades IMO don't make you faster just more durable with the exception of the springs.

What about the new Ackerman? It's supposed to turn better? Same with new hubs. Just wondering about people who did all these upgrades, if it improved lap times. I was interested more in that than durability.

I switch over to the recommended indoor outdoor setup which has both the items you mentioned and the truck is absolutely amazing on an outdoor 1/8th track. I would highly recommend this setup if you are racing on an outdoor semi bumpy med to low traction track. I have not tried this setup on indoor clay but the title of the setup suggest it might also work there. I did try it on carpet and didn't like it. May have been able to mess with springs and droop to get it there but I just went back to my known good carpet setup.

The set up works great on an indoor clay track.

The steering upgrade, Low Frequency springs and pistons are a must. I'm running a slight variation on the recommended ouutdoor / indoor set up, but the truck is silky smooth and jumps very well.

I only use my truck on an indoor dirt track. I'll probably get the parts and do the upgrade. Thanks.

Sounds like it's worth doing for me. $79 plus shipping for hubs, pistons, bell cranks, ackerman, and springs. Also I'd need new to go emulsion on the shocks.

Thanks!

Ran a version of the Munn setup for astroturf but on carpet.

I used Xray gray springs however as I have in the past. Carpet is grey ozite we use however slicks or similar due to rules. I used the associated stock SCT tires as they work quite well without needing sauce.

the issues I want to correct are this:

- car feels like it wants to over rotate. I need the rear to be a bit more planted but still off the ability to steer quickly as its a tight track
- Vehicle has chassis bounce on jumps. I am using 8 x 1.4 pistons versus the setup sheet 6 x 1.5 . I am thinking of going slightly lighter on the shock oil. but, maybe I should go 6 x 1.5? Would that offer slightly less pack?

Is there a carpet setup out there people are using that they recommend?
