Serpent has the best looking wing by far. The Protoform works just as well and is more flexible when hit.

Ok guys, I'm needing some advice. I'm new to RC and am wanting to race in the Aussie outdoor tarmac clubs.

I've decided to go with the SF2 after months of research and comparing prices (available to me). I now have to decide on electronics, I have a Futaba 3PV and SAVOX SC-1257TG but now need a smooth power delivery 21.5T brushless, Blinky ESC and batteries.

I would just go down to the local track... except for most of the year I live in China (til the end of this year) and there are no tracks in my city (and I cant speak the language well). So you guys who run the SF2 are my best place for advice I figure.

You all know the handling characteristics and have done a fair bit of trial and error I am assuming too.

So can I ask you gurus on your preferences? Make and models would be awesome for ease of searching.

Thanks all.

Looking forward to getting the parts together so I can build my significantly upgraded car over the basic F104 I have been thrashing around for the past few years!

I've bought the SF2 wide version and am trying to understand which front suspension setup I need for tarmac. Is it the rigid setup (that's my guess) or the flex setup. Keeping in mind I didn't get the IFS setup.

Default Foam tires

Hey guys. Anyone out there running this car in the wide version with foams. Looking to get another F1 after a few years away from racing and see there are a few new suppliers of F1 foams. Which is the preference for the SF2-W car?

I'd say Enneti.

It's what Serpent used to buy & relabel as Xceed foam tyres, so that's what Serpent would probably advise themselves too ;-)

Anyone here with an SF2 Wide version that can tell me what wheels and tyres you run? I attached a set of Tamiya foams and the car in now riding 11mm off the ground! No way I have enough shims (spacers... whatever they are called) to raise the front high enough to lower the car to 4mm. Let alone the rear end.

Sounds as though maybe you currently have F103 tires but need F104 (or I may have that reversed, I'm currently going through a similar ordeal). From what I've gathered; F103 tires a bit wider than pretty much anything else contemporary, F103 being an earlier version was modeled after earlier F1's with much wider tires than current cars, not sure when FIA mandated the change. But to make a short story long, I've noticed everyone pretty much runs f104 wheels (made for rubber, they have a lip) with the current choice of rubber. I CAN confirm f104 rubber tires and wheels do work on a F110 sf3, F103 wheels rub on the inside. May work but will require fitting/modification etc.

Thanks roosterreagan, I can confirm that I'm running both f104 FOAM tyres and wheels. I had a play today with some shims on the front suspension. I was planning on lifting the whole front suspension section, but realised I couldn't due to the length of the screws. So at best I added about 0.5mm. I also moved the positions of the shims on the kingpins, which gave me a few extra mm. But it still sits at 5mm not the 4mm I'm chasing.

Also it was 1998 when the FIA introduced the 1.8m wide cars as well as the stupid grooved tyres (3 at the front, 4 at the rear).

I can't get the rear wheels to match the 200mm width of the front end... Not without a sizable bush on the inside of the wheel. Leaving a very small amount of thread available for the wheel nut!

Would pics help to explain my issues?

Side note... How's the sf3?

Maybe interested in this SF-3 car, what Serpent spare parts should I have in stock?
I already have some F1 cars but never tried SERPENT!
