is touring car racing dead , I live in va and just bought a electric touring car and I cant find a track anywhere, ive searched online and had no luck , someone help me find a track

Well, I would say that it is far from dead. A few tracks in my area. Obviously nothing within a 5 minute drive.

First, post your location?

Find a local hobby shop, that usually leads to local race tracks, if not, try a subforum of the area.

Losiracing25, in the Summer time there is an outdoor track in Manassas, Va that you could race at. It's run by a local club...I think it's something like WWW.RCRNV.COM If you wanted to race now you could take the drive up to Middle River Hobbies. They have a indoor carpet track where they race on Sat and Thurs.

I live in Richmond. We have a track we set up in a parking lot in front of the hobby store. Its pretty big. Hobby town in Manassas sets up a track in their lot also. There is a permanent track in Chesapeake. Really nice facility. They actually have 3 tracks. That's where I do most of my racing.

****WARNING****. If you happen to be traveling to the state of Georgia for any reason; do yourself a favor and leave your on-road gear at home. The few on-road racers that remain here have to travel to either Tennessee or the Carolina's for the nearest carpet track.

The problem with touring car racing is exactly what doomed many full sized racing organizations. Equipment costs kept spiraling out of control until it was so expensive to be competitive that nobody wanted to race anymore.

Touring car kits used to cost about as much as race buggy kit. Now they seem to cost twice as much as a buggy. That is unsustainable.

Bet more $$ are spent on 1/8 off-road than electric touring, by a fair margin

And there are plenty of affordable tourers for those so inclined

Care to explain that a little more? Looking at 1/8 buggy (either nitro or electric) and the cost is similiar or higher. Heck even 4wd SCT is in the same ballpark.

On road racing is by far more expensive than off road. The biggest cost is tires. At 30 to 40 dollars a set the average club racer will go threw two or three sets in a day. Depending on the number of qualifiers they run. Now a big event or a two day race. Multiply that by three.

The other thing is most tracks run electric classes in blinky mode. They say "it keeps it competitive" that's bs. Now we have two experiment with motors. Boosted you can take any motor to the pit and make it competitive.
