Default Will any other manufacturers develop shaft driven cars?

I herd some rumors that Xray may be developing a shaft driven car to compete with the matrix . Just wondering if anyone else has heard this and know if any other companies thinking about this?

I would love to see another shaft driven car. And X-ray, would probably make a good one. But if its between a $700 awesomatix or a $575 xray, I still wont be able to afford one. Even used.
