Getting back into nitro setup help (updated)
Getting back into the hobby 8ight 3.0 kit
Ivd decided to get back into the hobby now that I have a good job, I use to losi 8ight-t 1.0 and things have changed a bit since then. I purchased a 8ight 3.0 buggy and was wondering if this setup will be enough for club racing and being somewhat competitive
If there is anything I should change via better bang for your buck, has problems, could get equal product for less etc please chime in
Engine-Novarossi p5
Pipe/manifold- 9901/41021
Steering servo-Hitec-HS-7955TG
Throttle servo-Hitec-HS-7955TG
Radio-Airtronics MT-4
Battery charger for starter box batteries/reciever ProTek-R-C-Prodigy-Touch-680
Reciever battery-2s Lipo ProTek

Engine-Werks b5 (don't know what pipe to run yet) Personally I would prefer a Picco or Nova to a werks. The FusionX is one of my favorites right now. For a buggy a X5 race with a 2096/41021.

Clutch-Werks Racing 34mm "Light" Pro Clutch 4 Shoe Racing The kit should come with a clutch. Nothing wrong with the Losi 4 shoe.
Clutch bell- losi racing clutch bell 14t. Should come with the kit.
Steering servo-Hitec-HS-7955TG. Good choice, look around they can be had for under 100.00 online
Throttle servo-Hitec-HS-5645MG Save yourself time and frustration and just get a second 7955tg for the throttle, that 5645 is DNF waiting to happen.
Radio-Spektrum-DX4C-DSMR-4-Channel-Radio-w-SR410-Receiver. Airtronics MT-4 or MT-4s seen way to many spectrum radios get there frequency stepped on by flysky and other cheap Chinese radios.
Battery charger for starter box batteries/reciever ProTek-R-C-Prodigy-Touch-680 Nothing wrong with that one, Maybe spend a bit more and get
a 2 port? Depends on your budget.

But I would recommend changing a few things.
First, the B5 is a hell of a power plant. Its a little aggressive for a buggy but would still work well. If you want to stay with a Werks engine, I would get the B6 over a B5 in a buggy. It is just so much smoother and easier to drive on surfaces that are not high traction.
But there are planty of other really good motors out there. Alpha Dragon, Nova P5/BTT, Keep Off4, OS XZ-B,.... the list goes on for a while. Get something you have used and had success with in the past.
For pipes, again if you are staying with Werks, the 2058. Smooth easy to use power band and great on fuel. Gives it a nasty raspy sound Like a chain saw cutting through a steel gate!!! Check the Engine Thread for specifics on pipes for other manufacturers.
For clutch, stay with the stock Losi. No need in spending money on another part, but that's just my opinion. It works perfectly fine.
Your throttle servo, I would get something a little stronger and faster. The 645 series is ok, but it never hurts to have that little extra power and speed in your back pocket.
And batteries, if that charger can do it, go LiFe. Venom, Trak Power make a really good pack that lasts about an hour on one charge. and you get the addition of the extra volts without having to use HV servos.
Good luck and welcome back.

Any pipe recommendation for nova p5, and the only reason I'm getting the lighter clutch is for more bite. Maybe I'll wait till its worn out.
What's the plus of running. Lipo eceiver pack, longer battery run time?

Okay I heard you some clutch bells don't fit the p5 I think it was a ProTek

Do 7955tg require voltage regulators with Lipo pack or are they HV

I will suggest a Steel Flywheel. But thats not needed right away. I run a Nova 9901 pipe with a 021 header on my buggy. The P5 is plenty for buggy and its smoother than the B5.
Servos - Im a Savox man...
