TA05 V2 R VS. TB03 VDS
I've owned a tamiya tt01d for 5 years and am planning to build my second kit, either ta05 ver2 R or tb03 Vds (ta05 vdf is too expensive USD 466), i plan to use it mainly for drifting and a little bashing, both kits cost USD 290 in our LHS. which kit do you guys think I should get? thanks

I would have thought belt over shaft for drift as it opens up the possibility to alter front/rear drive ratios (counter steer/over drive)

Neither of those are very good drift cars to be honest. The ta05 has the weight placemat pent all wrong, (I had one) and I have heard the vds has a balance and flex pattern that is all off for good drifting.
The vdf I is about 370 on ebay... And that's what I would get in that price range. To make it into an excellent drifter though you really need to drop a bunch more on the drift steering kit and aluminum bulkheads to get better angle as well as the aluminum hangers to give better durability.
If you still don't want a vdf... Go with the ta05 and place some weight over the front
bumper. Another option to consider is the xv01 pro tc. It makes an excellent drifter (had one)

The top drift guy at our local drift club has a tb03 VDS and runs rings around the Yoks etc they are impossible to get over here though.
