Some pictures of my car that I'm building up now.


Out of the box the car feel great. Some might complain about using Philips head screws, but I like them. Using a Black and Decker power screw driver with the right bit they snug right up. My plan is to run the car as it sits out of the box first then adjust the setup.

Some tips:

Wipe the tires off when you unbox the car. They come with some type of oil residue (probably to preserve tires) and they are are slick/oily. One quick blast of motor spray and wipe off does the trick. Then they should be good to go.

The steering felt a tad tight. I loosened the two screw that mount to the top of the aluminum steering plate about 1/8 a turn or until it felt smoother in the bushing.

One thing I've always done with my 1/8 Blaze motor is soldering male end bullets to make motor swaps easier.

If you do not like the look of the top screw on the motor mount you can replace it with a longer set screw or button head.

The kit comes with your standard plastic servo arm. I installed a GH Racing aluminum clamping style arm.

I will be running the Speed Passion Silver Arrow 2, Blaze 2100kv and 2400kv, Associated XP DS1015 servo, OFNA DP8 body

Some random tips I've found.

The kit will ship with the rear body posts mounted toward the back. Depending on the body you use they might need to be swapped over to the front of the rear shock tower.

If using an OFNA body you will need to do this otherwise they line up almost under the wing.

If you plan to use the stock tires I would re-glue them for extra security. Most racers tend to swap them out for Sweep 45s or 50s.

The plastic side pod you don't really need for onroad so I took them off.

I fond a video on youtube yesterday - go to youtube and search for 7mrBf7gpfB8 and you will see a guy testing it out on a parking lot. These cars are also sold as "Team Zombie V8GT", search for lnDS1G4bm44 on youtube to see one at the track.

Some more tips:
- If you want to replace the bushings in the steering assembly with bearings you can order some 10x6x3 bearings cheap off ebay.
- The pinion that came with the kit was too tight to fit the 5mm shaft on my Toro 8XST motor so I used one from my Hobao ST instead.
- Mine came with swaybar installed in the rear. I ordered an extra one (part# SF81031) and received a bag with 6 (!) swaybars and parts for mounting them both in front and rear. I havent looked at them yet but I guess its three pairs with different dimensions.

Anyone found any good sources for parts? Only one I have found is rchobbymart - they seem to have most parts in stock and the shipping was fine, but its always good to have some alternatives.

You can use Serpent onroad springs from their GT line of cars. They are a direct fit. The OFNA springs are too small in diameter to fit.

Bearing will smooth out the steering for sure. I have run mine with and without them.

Strange..mine was fine. I also have an assortment of Novak pinions and the option Speed Power versions. Both fit.

SF81031 is a great deal. You get all 3 front and rear swaybars w/ mounting hardware for about $10.



Depending on the battery (batteries) you use you might also want to shave/cut the molded on/off switch holder that is part of the battery tray. Otherwise your battery strap will overlap that.

One nice little feature is that there are small "notches" or "hook" type moldings under the battery trap. I routed my ESC to RX wire underneath it and into the receiver box.

Here is my E801GT, with Silver Arrow 2 ESC, running 2750kv sensored motor system, 16T pinion, turned down all the timing with DRRS 1. Car is way above my expectation for the price it sold. Solid build, great options thru out the car and I don't really see I need to add any or more options on it. Yes, I can definitely use the hex screws set thru out but actually I have not remove no more then 10 screws of the car before actually running it....and since I don't think this car required alot of tunning and setup so I think the fillips screws are fine. I am using the Sweep tread tires and already have Kyosho 45s, Alpha super soft and new Sweep 40s with V2 insert for testing....

For GT racing, the short wheel base turns better then the long one so I am not bothering the long wheel base conversion at all. But the long wheel base does have some very nice body that would make it a eye catcher, however, these painted long wheel base body are easily $125 USD plus more each, I think I can skip that...

Too bad it rain last Sunday.....I will video some laps running against nitro GT in a week or so.

I couldn't have a chance to paint the Porsche body, so I used the OFNA CLK GTR body instead......need to flipped the front body mount towel upside down in order to sit the body lower.....easy fix.

Great idea routing the ESC wire underneath the battery tray. Will do that!

Here is what I am running so far:
- Motor SKYRC TORO ARES X8ST 1550 KV 4 Pole Sensored
- ESC XERUN-150A-SD Sensored ESC
- Lipo ZIPPY Flightmax 4000mAh 6S1P 40C
- Tires Sweep Slick 45deg 6ix Pak

I use the same lipos in my helis and DIY e-bike. They are a perfect fit in the E801GT (W44 L147 H50 mm)

My ride height is front 8mm and rear 10mm, with 2mm droop front and 1mm rear. However, I think I will install the Serpent Cobra GT springs, yellow all around, or white front yellow rear....the stock spring feel a little in the soft side.

Thinking of buying one to run once in awhile at local large outdoor track. Looks solid for the price and you can always buy budget electronics just to run for fun. Who sells these anyways?

Here are some pictures of mine with the long wheelbase chassis - a perfect match for Kyosho bodies. Received the second one yesterday too so I'll start mounting up that one with a similar setup

This is a combined manual for buggy/truggy/monster/GT and nitro/electric so many parts will not fit the E801GT - I think the parts marked with 86 is for our car.
