I think it was about time. To old and to slow

He did sound devastated in that sound bite. Kind of like he wanted to go out with more of a bang than that. I'm sure that wasn't the finale he was looking for. He probably wanted something more like a Troy Aikman finale!

Yes, maybe Troy didn't go out the right way but the Redskins still can't fuigure out a way to beat the Boys!
With regards to Matt, I wish him all the Best! I got to meet him at Capital City R/C Center (his home track over in Sacramento back in the day) and he was always very attentive and helpful to every racer asking set-up questions, etc. Matt is a True Pro in every sense of the word!

I can see a reason why hes quitting tho. LOOK at the price of gas these dayz....and R/C racing aint filling the gas tank on his SUV(Stupid Use of a Vehicle)... hope he finds a great new occupation.

Well, if this sticks, Matt will be sorely missed by everyone!
No matter what brand of toy car we/you/I race someone who did what they loved and would also help and answer questions the way Matt did is exceptional and rare. More R/C Pro racers should try an emulate him, young AND old!
I always get a kick out of seeing guys change teams and all of a sudden they are different. This applies to the old team AND the new team. When a driver changes brands, they still like the same jokes, have the same drive to win, eat the same food, etc., yet they are treated differently by both sides, going from saint to sinner or sinner to saint in a single bound.
Maybe we should appreciate someone like Matt because of Matt, not because of his toy car choices?
Good luck Matt!......................Jim
