Surreal-Changing of brushes depends.
Are we talking Stock,19turn or Mod?

Are you in the top 2-3 EVERY WEEKEND?Reason I say this is changing brushes often can help that lil bit but if your not at the top with setup and driving yet then this doesnt count towards you.

Are we talking big events or club racing?
When you notice the motor falling off it's good to change them.
All brushes are different and need to be replaced at different times.
Putnam Greens may need to be replaced quicker than F brushes,767's or 4499's(E brush)
Your question is kinda of a WIDE OPEN type question and can have many answers.

Drilling the hole in the face of the brush will make more edges on the brush for better current flow. This usually produces more watts on a dyno which means it adds power.
This is something you have to play with and see if it works for you.

19 turn is a stock class too.

my question relates to 19T. i helped my friend to skim his Komodo Dragon's comm. Comm wear seems to be quite considerable, after 2 race nights (only 9 runs in total since the motor was bought NIP).
i was even more surprised to see "pitting" on his brush surface. couldn't remove those with comm stick. what could be the cause of the pitting?

19t is not stock, thus 19t. 19t spec.

If u want to be pedantic, 19T is classified as 19T Spec for BRCA and Super Stock for Roar & AARCMCC… anyway .. any motor that's not modified, is “stock”.. dammit ..

Increase spring tension to increase RPM.....decrease it to increase torque....

The 4499 is a very RPMish brush, so thats a good place to start.

so a purple spring would give you more rpm than a green?

Yes - it would push the power band toward the high RPM range.

Since the EPIC ROAR already has lots of RPM, I tend to build them with a Red/Green combo so they have a bit more low end grunt. If you want to try something a bit different brush wise, I'd try the F-brush or 4499.
