Can anyone give me feedback on the Integy Z Zone 27 motor? How should I gear it compared to a Monster, Epic, or CO27?

Thanks in advance.

Temp gun may not help because the C027's run very cool so it may not be a very accurate way to check. I tried 4 different pinion sizes and the temp still was around 140 degrees?

We just have stock 23T race - 8 min . Almost everyone use final gear ratio of 5.6 even in hot weather condition ( 34C air temp, 68C asphalt track ). Motors are yokomo LT, SR, LR, ST. My friend measured his motor temp is 98C.

Why 6.3 - 6.5 FDR for stock 27T ? Try 4.5 - 5.0 ?

So what did you end up with? Also how is the Tamiya track lately? Has it even been open? I am really getting tired of it raining on the weekends!

That motor has a bit of torque. So I would start by going down one on the pinion to get some RPM's out of the motor.

With those brushes use green (+), green(-). If you have a Spring Dyno you will want to set the tension to around 6.3-6.5 oz.

that kind of gearing wont work..your 23 turns have like 36 or more degrees of timing...stock motors only have 24 degrees of timing..do your home work , get your facts right , and another thing we aint in Europe....

asw.. socal raceway is a fairly small track. the straight away varies in length from 70-100 feet (but with banked sweepers). thats why we run close to 6.8-7.3FDR for monster stocks..and dipping lower for the new CO27s.

No spring dyno yet. My tuning arsenal consist of a lathe and it needs a new bit! (I m guessing if you hit the winds and stop the comm that is not good for the bit, just add it to my stupity tax bill.)

I agree that gearing won't work but the 23T motors have 20deg of timing and usually standup brushes, that's why they can gear them so high compared to our stock motors. The 23T class is big in asia, not Europe

Asia.... All they run is 23T stock and open mod. You won't find a 27T or 19T in any shops in HK. Only took two trips there to figure that one out.
