What maintenance you do
Hi Everone
Need to put up a list of maintenance work for an onroad car, other than bearing it seems everything else should be pretty long life unless there is a crash and damage it.
I could think of maintenance list, this is just regular maintenance, not include replace bad parts, of course you break some thing you got to replace it.
* Check and Change bearing - how long the drive train bearing would last?
* Change Diff oil - every how often?
* Change shock oil - how often?
* Belt - untill they get loose, but how long you need adjust.
I will be running on asphalt parking lot.
thx

Some like to tear apart their car after each run. (Ouch). Some even change bearings after every run. (Double ouch).
Some (lazy me included - but I only bash, no track around) run until it breaks or I can tell by the sound of it that something is definitely wrong. Once or maybe twice a year, when I'm really bored, I may take it apart and clean it.
I think you should put more emphasis on the "go out and have fun" part than on the "maintenance planning" part

Blow off dirt and grime with compressed air, oil where oil is needed, run, repeat.

There are a few items I check for wear (now that I know to look for them):
1. Outdrive cups/blades (check for wear/notching)
2. Double check arms and caster blocks (tiny cracks suck)
3. ECS's for play/lube
4. Roll centers (on my T3 I check these almost every run as they have a tendency to loosen up a bit in the front over time)

If its an xray, just drive it till you feel like it has to be changed. Or it breaks. Do check bearings, they fail in a crash.

my bash cars get cleaned every time they get back after a bash session but thats it,my race car gets too much attention, after 2 meetings all the bearings come out get washed with cleaner then a light oil is applied, very free running gear, then all the settings are checked and tweaked if necessary, this gets done after every other run, shocks get fresh oil every 3/4 meetings,it gets a blast from the compressor after every run ,i also check for debris that gets stuck to the diff and can snap a belt when using the airgun ,my race car is always spotless,i dont even have ocd

fix on fail!
That statement is fail. That's like saying it might break or fail in the main or a good qualifying run.
After every race I re-bleed shocks, re-grease axles, and clean out bearings.
Race day I check tweak and maybe loose screws after every run.
I'd rather run my car knowing it can finish a run than it being unknown when it will break or fail.

change the shocks oil when its get too dirty looks.
diff oil every 2 races.
for the bearings.... clean when its gritty, replace it when its still gritty or if theres a slop.

Maintenance is all about personal preference. I replace parts when I spot something that doesn't look quite right or seems to have too much play. I check bearings once a month. Diff bearings get checked when I have the case apart which is pretty rare. I've only had 1 diff bearing ever fail on me and it was an outdrive bearing on an SC10.
I blow off the whole kit after every run, check screws, look for cracked parts, make sure my hinge pins aren't coming out (TC3 have a tendency to loosen up) and really that's about it. I'll check camber and toe every time I get to the track then keep checking it during the day, especially after a race that was rough.

Obviously I check to see if any parts are getting kinda quesfionable, especially rear hubs and steering knuckles. If I feel those are getting kinda loose/stripped, I'll replace them. However, I really don't think its necessary to go through bearings and redo my shocks and clean my diffs after every single day at the track. We run on carpet so I do make sure to blow the car off after every run to prevent fuzz and stuff from clogging up the drive train, but besides that, I don't do much maintenance at all.
