A few words now for the MRX 4 of TQ driver Daniel Ielasi.

He is running a PICCO engine and in fact PICCO him self is present constantly monitoring his engine performance.
Today Daniel informed me that he is all set with his engine and clutch and he is working on his car in order to prepare it for a final with warm conditions. He is a smart racer and he is very well aware of the fact that his TQ time came in cool and much better conditions than what he will have to face in the final in the middle of the day with the sun heating up the track a lot.
Thus he was kept busy working on his car in order to make it consistant and easy to drive.
To me it looked like his car was very good in cool conditions and still very fast in the warmer conditions but not as consistant, having to fight oversteer in the exit of the corners.
His MRX 4 is box stock, with the only optional in use being Mugen's alternative to the rear rollbar with the blade system.
It is impressive to see how confident he looks. You might think that he is arrogant but it is simply the fact that he has practiced so much and knows his car so well that everything is under control.

1. Ielasi with his MRX4
2. Working on his car
3. His car in pieces
4. His very good PICCO engine
5. Again his engine

Guys, don't jump into conclusions.

I am a driver who prefers electric powered cars and as I have been racing 1/8th scale on road gas cars I can objectively report the following.

IC cars are mostly about engine and centax clutch.
The MRX4 seems to be a very good car and a lot of good results prove that. But for this event the car with the best handling seemed to be Michael Salven's 960.
Michael through out the event was obviously lacking power. He gained some top speed by running only 1.5 degrees of rear tow-in but he defenetly did not have the acceleration of Ielasi, Pietch and Tironi.
In the semis Michael started from the pits after having a flame out on the starting grid (first sign of problems to come..). In the first few laps he took it easy to check if all was well with the engine and then he started pushing very hard. In 20 minutes he managed to move up into 2nd position having started dead last and having to do an extra pit stop in order to make sure he does not run out of fuel.

In the final he was involved in a small accident which took him off at the first corner of the first lap. He resumed and within 9-10 minutes he was up to 3rd position. It did not seem like he could improve from then on but it surely was going to be a good result.

Then about halfway through the race his engine stoped working which resulted in a DNF.

Ielasi on the other hand, simply dominated the whole event, from free practiced at the beginning of the week, all the way through qualifying and finally the race. His engine was very powerful, and reliable as it turned out and his car had tons of steering, giving him the ability to control the pace of the race from the start. It did seem a little bit loose and fishtailing coming out of the corners, but it seems he liked it this way in order to have enough steering.
Most powerful engine of the event must have been the SIRIO of Kyosho driver Franchesco Tironi, but it only lasted for 5 minutes during the final, having problems from then on and not working properly.

Not many pics of the cars this time. I will post a few from the prize ceremony later on...

Which camera were you using? You've got some nice pictures!

Mike,

You are welcome.

Maybe another person with a camera has taken pictures of me. I was on the drivers' stand all the time working as a comentator and 2nd referee of the event. Thus I had no time to give my camera to another person to take a picture of me. If I find one on another website covering this event I will let you know..
My camera was a simple Canon Power Shot S500 Digital Elph (5.0 megapixels)

Thx for the reporting John,

In the dutch races it is clear that the new mega's (by picco?!) lack a bit of power, rickV and Salven are testing things (i've seen them do so..)
