Default Need help selecting 12th ESC

I'm debating between the Hobbywing 1s and the Tekin RS Gen2 Spec. I like the Hobbywing because it supports 1s and I don't need the additional battery, but the price and name of the Tekin is tempting.

Can someone post their experience with the Hobbywing 1s or help with some constructive input so I can make a decision soon please?

I like my hobbywing 1s, most people at my local track use it. the old 2.1 can be used with either 1s or 2s battery, the new 3.1 is 1s only. they are both reliable. using hobbywing 1s doesn't forbid you from rx pack while Tekin require rx pack. the bad thing about Hobbywing is the weight of ESC which mean a lot of lead weight for balance.

HW makes a solid product. I havnt personally see a single one fail, even when running mod. The Tekin was ahead of its time software wise, but I don't think their hardware can handle the same power as the HW.

When it comes down to it, buy whats going to make you happy. I don't think you can really go wrong with either.

I have both. The HW is better IMO for 1s however I've used the Tekin with good results as well. If I had to choose id go with the HW and place the lead where I needed for good balance!

A bunch of us currently run the Tekin RS Gen 2 in 12th scale at our local track and almost all of us are working to find an alternative. Having to run a Rx Pack is a pain at times and the Gen 2 seems to draw a lot more amps than other ESCs (no data to support this, just seems this way).

I personally ordered two of the ORCA VX-1 but was also looking closely at HW.

I would say stay away from the Tekin for 1s. However, I do know they are working on releasing a 1s ESC, which I would be tempted to try.

I like the HW, I have 2 of the older versions. If u can find one of the 2.1 I would get it, u can find on eBay sometimes and they r cheaper.

Thanks for the input. I decided to go with the new HW and the programming box. I'm already happy with their customer service. I forgot to put in the discount code and they updated my order after to include it.

You should really love going from the Tekin to ORCA. The VX-1 is exceptional compared to the RSg2.

Had the viper for about 2 years now and am satisfied with it. I put it in blinky mode and never touched it ever since. Nice product!
But if I were to buy again I would try a gen2 tekin just for its data logging. It helped me with gearing my touring car perfectly and would like to try it out in 1/12
