Default New VCS Progressive Springs

McPappy Racing is happy to offer a new VCS Progressive Spring Kit!

The "variable pitch" design has 3 coils on one end which are designed to coil bind under 1/4" of compression travel. This allows the springs to be soft at first and rapidly increase in stiffness. Side shocks benefit by allowing the pod to be smooth and soft near the neutral resting position yet get progressively stiffer as the chassis rolls. Likewise, if you use a small VCS shock for your center shock, the soft action handles the bumps nicely while getting stiff right before the chassis bottoms out.
We offer traditional or precision ground flat ends. The ground flat ends lets the springs apply pressure slightly straighter and helps to keep it from rubbing the shock body.

The kit included 8 pairs of springs. 5 lbs through 12 lbs in 1 pound increments. You will receive a pair of 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12 pound springs.

We kept the colors the same as Muddslide/WindTunnel so it's easy to remember.

Very nice!

Are the listed spring rates the initial or final value? Can you let us know both rates (approximately, at least) for each spring?

They are the average rates. I will try to get the details from my spring maker. I would guess it progressively moves about 2-3 lbs. Just a guess according to what it feels like.

The spring is not going to stop the chassis from bottoming out, the damper does, the spring doesn't absorb any shock, it just holds up the car.

I wonder if these work like they should, when companies have done progressive spring setup before, they usually don't work as they should. (traxxas )

I can't judge these though, since i have never had any hands on experience with them.

I never said it would stop the chassis from bottoming out.
These were designed for VCS shocks commonly used in pan cars (1/12th, 1/10th road course and oval). Sounds like you are referring to dampening for off road jumps. We designed them so the 3 coils completely coil bind after 1/4" of travel which is what pan cars typically use.

It would be my pleasure to get you the charts and graph of these springs in comparison to regular VCS springs.

That would be great if you could post them (or a link to them) here.
