I Just got an X1. I haven't mounted the body yet. But I had a custom one painted and didn't specify what body I wanted and it was painted on a Protoform F1 '15. Any tips/suggestions on how go about mounting it so I don't ruin it?

Take your time cutting it out, so much easier to do before it's painted.

Cut, fit, cut, fit, cut, fit, ect....
I had that body on my CRC F1 and it took a lot of cutting to get the pod to work freely. Cut a little at a time and keep checking it. You will remove most of the back end, but it absolutely needs to be clearanced around the pod and motor wires.

How do I mark the body post holes?

Yeah I got me an X1 built up. Now comes to see if I can find time to race. Hopefully soon. Painting now.

Very carefully. I usually trim the bottom of the body first to make it easier to move the body and mark where to drill the hole. Drill small holes first so you can make adjustments. My 2 cents.

I also had to cut the entire rear of the Xray body to make it fit my 3racing fgx....I ended up with a 27gram f1 nose&helmet body.....Good luck ...

Remove the body posts, place the body on the car and use a drill from the bottom up through the chassis body post mounting holes to make the holes.

Set the body on the mounts.
Shine a bright light under the car so you can see the posts through the paint.
Cut the rear holes first.
With the body all the way down on the rear posts, use the light to find the front post.

Protoform bodies need a ton of hacking to fit on the Xray. I hacked all the way forward to the rear sidelink balls.

That's the awesome thing when you run an xray body on the xray, the holes are marked perfectly already on the body!

Plus the xray body has cheater LCG since the helmet is molded
