I need to know if boiling/acetone etc. the tires off the rims, which method if any, does NOT hurt the tires.I don't need the rims in this case,it's the tires I need to save.thanks,Mario.

Neither. Bake the tires off. That way, you don't have a tire foam full of scalding hot water to deal with. 350f for 10 minutes and a pair of oven mits and you're done. Everything is reusable.

That is the way that i have always used to and it worked the best. I have tried boiling the wheels and it is not as effective and like davidka said the foams are always full of hot water. So put them in the oven.

Boiling does work, though it can discolor the rims. The Oven method may be the best, just never tried it.

Just beware that the acetone eats plastic rims. The oven method works best from what i've been told.

acetone is far far easier and it doesnt even touch most tyres, some go funny but do a test on a set you dont care about to make sure.
some tamiya wheels will melt... all prolines, associated, losi etc are fine.

If you steam them, it doesn't affect the rims, Ive don it before you just gotta leave it until the tire starts to peel off.

I use the acetone method. But it's the fumes, not the acetone that breaks the glue bond. I put about a half inch of acetone in a coffee container. Then set the tire on blocks so it is not touching the liquid and put the top on. Let it sit overnight and they'll come off nicely in the morning. Kills the foams though.
