I posed the question (of the HW3.1 1s approval) in the HW thread, and Angelo felt it was a mixup and would get it cleared up this week.

because the 1s and 2s share the same software, and the main question of approval is software related, the 2s approval pretty much guarantees the 1s should be approved also.

I can't speak for the directors of ROAR, but generally speaking new speed controls must be tested and approved even if the software is already approved on a different ESC. This is because it is very easy for the software to know what ESC it is running on, and make changes based on that information. The resulting performance can be completely different when using the same software on different ESCs.

To my knowledge, the Hobbywing 3.1 1s hasn't been submitted for testing.

All the spec class drama!

It's almost enough to make me want to run mod!

I'm not sure this really qualifies as drama. It's pretty simple: if the ESC is on the list, it's approved; if not, it's not. I would check the list before purchasing an ESC (if I were to ever buy a new one!).

By the way, I'm disappointed that Augie won't be able to run VTA. He would have done very well, as his driving is quickly improving.

The new software (3.3) and the new VXX Speedo has passed all ROAR test as I have the results at home. But after Howard does all the testing the EXCOM must vote to include it on the list (Just as they do for batteries and motors). The EXCOM has not done this yet for the ORCA VXX or software (or at least not as of a week and a half ago). So until they decide to get around to that it is not legal to use at events using ROAR rules.

hmm, well I was looking to get a new esc, I did look at the roar site. the approval list seems inconsistent regarding the orca VX-1. the list has a single model number for the VX-1 and in words labels it as the titanium colored item.

while the VX listing also shows only the titanium color model number then in words notes the color variations. (each color has a unique part number)

so am I to conclude that only titanium colored VX-1's are approved? (which happen to be out of stock)

No all the VX-1's are approved with 3.0 software. Why the list doesnt show that I am not sure. They were all tested and only difference is the color on the heat sink. Roar Snafu there (not on Howards part as he didnt do the original testing of them).

The word is all the new Tekin stuff has been submitted (RSX, Gen 2 RS, and RS Spec) with new software to be good for Nats... fingers crossed that happens or I'm out! the Current listing on the ROAR site is the wrong part number for the ESC listed (G2 Spec RS part number for the G2 RS ESC ) and old software.

I thought that the list thats on the ROAR web site is what we have to go by as thats all the Avearge guys can see. Aso that anything had to be on the list 30 days before an event and in market so the Avearge guy can get it.
I have the New Team Powers ESC thats been approved but its not on the list yet.

Why would you attend their race when the can't give you the common courtesy of a response email?
