I had a set of both 40's and 45's at the Heart of America race last weekend. I ran them one qualifier and passed the tires around to others to try as well. Temp was a little cool at 68/70 air temp and the pavement, which is light in color only got to mid 70's, so not a lot of grip. Tires needed 5/6 laps to warm up, they were a little slower than Alpha softs and Sweep 45 treads (which I use at this track). So track times .3/.5 slower but wear of the tires was minimal. I would guess you could get a solid 2-3 weekends out of them.

Should be a great tire for the spec class.

I'm not sponsored or have any ties to VP-Pro. Purchased tires to give them a try. Ran on my DM-1 and did not change any set ups.

I also had the Reds engine combo with me that the racers looked at. Did not have my long wheel base car done, so did not get a chance to break in the engine and run. I will try and get that done sooner than later, as I may be making the Homestead race .....

Nice write up on RedRc from the 1/8 on road worlds where Paolo talked about the GT class and running a Spec Class at the race in Homestead.

Good reading ......

Well, I guess the die is cast for 2014 - new, fancy Kyosho grey chassis with some form of 'improved steering' in a long wheelbase version has been purchased! Since my shorty car needs to be completely torn down and checked after a recent outing, might as well make it long at the same time!

Sooooo, what's the consensus for long wheelbase GOOD HANDLING bodies for the new spec class??? Something in a I______a??? or is there something that looks a bit more like a GT car???

Time to begin assessing the damage!

The Rules specify that the body be that of a real 1:1 car.

I have one maclaren and one Ferrari left

Chris, glad to see you are thinking of making the change. I got the Ferrari body from Marcus and think it looks pretty good and we'll see on the handling. You could always go to the Kyosho Corvette, not sure how it handles but sure looks good ......

I ran the Ferrari body, I love the way it handled!! I also have a NEW Team C corvette body (long) that came in the kit. Willing to trade or sell it.
