You either need a brushed esc or a brushed/brushless esc, curious why you want to buy a brushless esc for a brushed motor, I'd buy a brushless motor

Sounds like you are preparing for a future brushless motor purchase, which is a great idea.

Depends on the exact ESC, some brushless ESCs can also run brushed motors, some can not.

We didn't know you were just starting, but yea if you're just starting brushed is fine, I switched within a week, look into a esc capable of brushless and brushed mode so when you switch which I bet you will, you'll be prepared and won't have to go but a new esc

Get a used Tekin RS. Works on brushed and brushless.

The sidewinder and the mmp from castle also run brushed motors. The mmp is nice because it does 6s, no motor limit, and it quite a bit cheaper than a tekin. It isn't a small esc though like the tekin.

The problem with buying an ESC capable of handling both brushes and brushless motors is that it is going to cost you a pretty penny. Now maybe that doesn't matter to you, but if budget is a concern, why not pick up a brushed only ESC? If you're running a Titan 12T motor, it sounds like you're running something Traxxas. You can pick up a XL-5 ESC on Ebay for less than $40.
