Ty uses PL #2734-04

The reason I chose the 22's offset is because it has a flat dish compared to the typical 4WD wheel which has a convex dish. The convex dish makes the wheel nut stick out further past the tire making it more prone to getting snagged on track pipes/borders. Also when going through tech the max width includes the wheel nuts so with the convex shaped dish you end up with a narrower front track width (center line distance between the two front tires) from the same maximum width (wheel nut to wheel nut).

For the front the kit includes BOTH 12mm and 9.8mm hexes. The included HB wheels uses the 12mm hex. The included 9.8mm hexes are compatible with the TLR-22 2WD buggy front wheels.

That's not a typo - the offset compatibility is with the 2WD TLR-22 front which PL, JC, and AKA have versions of. The usual 4WD fronts from the major wheel companies can be made to fit but the hex fit will be a little tight and the front total track width will end up a little narrow. for some reason the hex on the TLR-22 is 9.8mm and the rest of 4WD wheels are 9.5mm. Why there's a 0.3mm difference between the 2WD and 4WD i don't know. The wheel offsets are different as well but during the design phase I studied all the available wheels and I preferred the TLR-22 offset.

I am near to having everything but the car gathered up now, just ordered some tires today but held off on the wheels which having those would only leave paint to be bought next. I do have TLR22 buggy wheels to spare at home already, so I guess the way to go is to build it with the 9.8mm front hexes and then use TLR wheels all the way around.

Has anybody else given this part much thought? If I put the 4wd front tire on a 2wd TLR 22 wheel will it round up the tread of the tire by putting it on a narrower wheel or is the difference small enough to not really matter? What about the 22-4 front wheel, will it play into this as an option?

Or should I just use the 12mm fronts and go with HB wheels?

Blind guessing right now as I wait.

glad you brought that up! yes it seems the 22-4 fronts with the 12mm hex is compatible. I've tried a set of AKA evo wheels for the 22-4 and it fits. the offset is identical or nearly identical. the 22-4 front is probably the better option instead of the 22 front. at the time of my earlier post the 22-4 wasn't out yet.

as for a 4wd tire mounted on a 2wd rim, Ty has been running it like this, with PL 22 wheels and it's been fine.

so the 22-4 front wheels + the 22-4 rear wheels are a good option to run on the d413?

Torrance, why do you like the ESC behind the motor as opposed to up front, any advantage?

Good purchase, Promatch makes great batteries! I recently had a warranty issue with them and they took care of the problem without trying to blame the customer. Awesome packs with fair prices, plus they stand behind their products!!!

22-4 front wheels are probably the best alternative to use on the D413.

For the rear they're pretty much standard across all cars - B4, B44, 22, 22-4, RB6, etc. all use the same rear.

I mount my ESC in the rear because the wiring is cleaner. But to compensate I run the battery forward. Ty has his ESC up front but has his battery in the middle position.

I don't know if my ESC mounting makes the handling better or not but it works well enough for me. Granted I can't drive like Ty.

This is going to be my first 1/10th buggy. Looking for some motor esc recommendations form the experienced. 4wd sc and 8th scale all have tekin in them at the moment and will prefer sensored. thanks

Smc 6.5t paired with hobbywing v3.1 esc. That's an amazing combo.

Tekin RSX, and 6.5t. I originally put a 8.5 in mine(dex410). It really lacked the punch. The hobbywing 3.1 is rally nice but its almost if not close to 200. If you already have all tekin, I'd spends the extra and stick with it.

So is 6.5t a good starting point for these 4wd? I run SMC batts and have been wanting to try a motor, hard to beat the price. Thanks so far

6.5 is a good starting point for someone that has been racing for at least a little while. if you're new to the game, you can cut your teeth on an 8.5, and when needed, dial in some boost until you're ready to go to a 6.5.
