I'm running 15/100/3 at one track

15/80/3 at another

Try not to worry so much what people on here are running for diff fluids though.
Driving style and traction have everything to do with diff fluid choices.
The possibilities of combinations could literally be endless talking to people around the world on this thread.

I'm looking at running the HW7.5 motor and was wondering what pinion sizes I should look at having or carrying. On the first page for gearing it looks like a 25T Pinion.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

What starting setup are people recommending for a medium grip large outdoor track. The few setup sheets on the hpi website all appear to be for high grip sugar tracks.

Also looking for a place to start on a medium to high grip clay indoor track.

You can check the first page/post. But the proline caps were a one of thing.

There are more setups here: http://www.tytessman.com/setups/d413-setups.php

I started with the low bite setup but ended up with the Reedy setup with a few minor changes. This worked better at LHR's indoor track. I have tried the car on the outdoor track.

I had a Trinity 7.5t motor in mine and I think I used a 24t pinion, with no temperature issues.

I'm running Speed Passion Reventon Pro esc & 7.5t combo package with a 22t pinion. No cooling fans on anything. SMC shorty pack 70c (C rating will effect motor & esc temps)

My local indoor track has a 95 foot straight. Medium bite surface.

Low 130's on the esc.

I'm seeing motor temps between 165 & 175 depending on how much tire spin, due to the track either being freshly groomed or a little dusty.

160 is suppose to be good operating temp.

You don't want to go over 180.

Robinson Racing steel absolute pinions fit perfectly with no filing required on the motor mount.

21t, 22t, 23t pinions will probably suit my setup no matter what track I'm on.

I've never ran a hobbywing. It may be slightly different.

i see a lot of set ups call for a 1.6 and 1.7 piston. Are people just drilling the blanks or just buying the 1.6 and 1.7 pistons...if so what 1.6 and 1.7 fit?
