It's nitro only because of the racers that come. I'm sure if there were enough electric guys around they'd race those too. Although the track may be a bit big for electric.

We are also in the process of testing the 1/18 scale electric cars, there is a covered carpet layout and thre are about 7 to 10 of these cars within the regular members.

This scale has proven to be very fun and competitive racing, if you own a 1/18 you've got to come to the track.

Well, most any track that is designed for 1/8 scale really cannot support Electric becuase of it's size. but I am sure you guys have enough support from the Nitro crowd, I will try to get down there for the next Nitro Enduro....

But due to the rains, there is a sudden interest in micro racing. We have enough room under our covered pit area to setup a track. When our nitro races get rained out, we pull out the micros. Racing will begin soon.

There is an Enduro being rescheduled for the end of this month possibly. It was supposed to be 2 weeks ago but got rained out. We're setting the date for sometime after the Sedan Nats. I'll post the date here so keep an eye out.

I've never seen any electric guys out there other than Micros. Go the the track website and send an email to the owner. He'll answer better. But practice days are saturday and sunday when there aren't races going on. The track is only open weekends.

Well I went there today and the owner has closed the track temporarily. All racing is suspended until further notice. This sucks.

Track owner sent out this email.

Royal Palm Raceway's facilities are closed for relocation.

Gentlemen for 2 years there was no track in Miami. I tried to
establish a track with all the conveniences that we never had and with
room for growth. I stepped forward to do what no one else wanted or
was willing to do. I did this for the love of this sport and for the
people who wanted a place to run. I was able to create what I thought
was the beginning of a very nice place to run. With a lot of work,
effort, and money I was able to piece together a track with facilities
we never had before.

Unfortunately I had not the first, but definitely the last fallout
with management at the track this past weekend. There have been many
instances that management's activities have disrupted our peaceful use
of the facility I lease. I have always been professionally courteous
discussing issues caused by management with their events held at the
facility. These issues included; extremely LOUD Music at the track,
broken glass and rocks on the track, and vandalism caused by their patrons
use of area. There has even been cases when I have found vomit on the
track the following day from one of their events. I have always been
able to deal with these never-ending issues with management in a
peaceful manner. Keep in mind that all these problems were caused by
the same people I pay a lease to and not by us. I however refuse to
deal with attitudes and threats. I consider myself a patient person
but I have to draw the line. This 4th of July once again they held yet
another giant party at the facility. They completely vandalized our
track with broken bottles, rocks, broken berms, fireworks, you name
it. It also seemed that they used our drivers stand as some sort of
launching area for the fireworks as well. As you all may know it takes
a lot of work to maintain a track in good shape. I also keep valuable
equipment there as well, which I removed for security reasons. No one is supposed
to be on the track while we are not there for any reason. I
cannot continue to deal with people (the landlord) who don't protect
the track area I lease, and don't even use common sense when it comes
to protecting what others are paying for. Not to mention holding
events that completely interrupts our use of the facilities. This was
the last straw!

What's the Solution?

We are over 400 members strong and I'm working with others to resolve
this as quickly as possible. I am trying to locate a temporary or
permanent alternative as fast as possible so we can still run. We will
not however meet at our previous location any more. I have several
locations already in mind and am gathering the details to see if these
locations are feasible. I will post the possible new location
information as soon as I can.

I am interested in forming a track committee of those members who are
interested to participate and carry some responsibilities along with
myself. Some members want more participation and others don't want any
responsibilities at all. The track however will run as normal in any
case.

None of this affects www.shopserpent.com or our intentions of running
1/18 scale cars which we will begin in the next coming weeks.

I know this is sudden news, but the club could not continue under
these circumstances. Please have confidence that I am trying hard to
find a solution that will be best for everyone.

Thanks,

Andy Martinez

This is sincerely a shame... Fortunatelly there are a few of us willing to contribute to any extent in order to keep a track running nearby.

So Andy if you get to read this forum... Just keep doing what you are doing and let us know if we can be of any help.

So does anyone in Miami know of any possible location options worth looking in to?
