man you gotta do something with the capacitor, if you run your car like in the picture , it is very prone to touch the ground , you dont want to get a shave as i got on mine (check page 64 of this thread)

mine was high too , and i run it for several times with no problem, but then the double side tape of the speedo failed, the speedo shifted a lot so all cables moved in such way that capacitor touched ground ...

I noticed this on GM's page talking about their new line of brushless motors. It seems to insinuate that there's something available that's even -more- powerful than sintered magnets. Does anybody know more about these magnets? Do they share the same reliability and resistance to heat that sintered magnets do?

Special extra-powerful plastic-bonded upgrade magnets are available as accessories: for competitions in which plastic-bonded neodymium magnets are prescribed or in which a different performance characteristic is desired, the upgrade magnets, Order No.97215.1, are fitted as a substitute for the original magnets. These upgrade magnets are a special development for GM-Racing, and are around 30% more powerful than bonded military spec. neodymium types; they fit both the BRUSHLESS EVO 3 and the BRUSHLESS EVO 2 motor. Rotational speed with these magnets is around 10 - 15% higher than with standard sintered neodymium magnets, combined with reduced current drain and slightly higher maximum efficiency. For thisreason these magnets are also a particularly good choice for slippery surfaces and 1 : 12 model cars.

Is this just a way of trading torque for RPM in situations where more RPM is needed?

i sent an e-mail to Steve at Novak and he confirmed what rampal said "blue and amber mean that drag brake is enabled and is the standard setting on profile 1".

once again thanks for your help!

I ran my 3.5 on my 68 camaro before I went to 14cell and back to brushed, That motor jumped up the front end of my car a big wheelie and flipped the car on its roof and tumbled a few times after. But the I put the 3.5 in my TC4 and it ran great fast and fun but due to some financial problems I sold the TC4 and the 3.5 about a month ago. But I'm still going to buy another one some time late spring no later than summer. It's a fun set up that 3.5 I miss it but hey ish happens...

hi guys,

i am a newbie to brushless system....

recently i bought a gtb 5.5 system, it was mention in the manual somewhere that the operating ratio its between 8.75 to 10 i think,

now here comes my question, does it means i cannot go below 8.75 or i will get a thermal shut down??? or is it i can go lower a bit??? why i ask its is because for 23t brushed motor sometimes we can go much lower than the mention ratio range...

also, i would like to ask, wil a 3.5 be very much faster than a 5.5 motor???

is yes than maybe i should have bough a 3.5 than......what is the lowest ration have you guys tried on a 3.5r motor?

thanks for your helps....

edwintklee--

Your recommended starting gear ratio depends on a number of things... most importantly what turn motor you have and what type of car you will be putting it into!

If you plan on putting it into a touring car with rubber tires we recommend 8.75-9.25 as starting gear ratios. There are certain instances where going taller than 8.75 is acceptable...but this depends on alot of factors including track size, traction available, outside/track temp, and driving style.

The final determining factor for gearing should always be the temperature of the system after a five minute run. Safe operating temperatures for the system are under 175 degrees F.

And yes the 3.5 will be faster than the 5.5.

The 3.5 runs like a fast 7 turn or so... the 5.5 runs closer to a 9-11 turn.

...
What I was told is that the number of the motor times 2 calculates to it's brushed equivalent. For example, a 3.5 x 2 = 7 turn motor. 13.5 x 2 = to 27 turn stock. So 3.5 x 2 or 7 turn would be faster than a 5.5 x 2 or 11 turn motor. The math doesn't quite work out for the 10.5 though. That's supposed to be equal to a 19 turn motor.
