If you want the fastest cells then buy IBs they have proven to be faster. The 3600s will perform about the same as the 3800s and you will save some money.

If you use a low peak detect and follow the reccomended care for them the IB cells are holding up real well.

Hi Danny

Thanks for the info

Where can I find the care info for IB3600's? I have found IB3800 care.

I will be using a new APS updated firmware charger so I believe with the temp sensor and peak detects this should not be a problem. My concerns were with long term performace and storage in cold conditions (car/garage) during the non race days till the next charge cycles

The IB3600s that PMR has in stock perform and react just like the IB3800s so treat them the same.

Just set your peak detect at 20mv for the entire pack and you will be fine.

When you raced them what did you do after you run them ?
I think it is around 2500sec or more, discharge the packs to 3.60v per 4 cell, and store for the next race day, i try to race once a week, and use one pack for each qual and the best one for the main, so in all i use 4 pack per race day.

Everything seems o.k. on your end. I'm assuming there is no air blowing o the packs when your cycling them ? If you haven't trayed them after use and let them stored like that and you don't dump them on the track then your runtime should be higher.

I cycled a 6 cell pack with 414 seconds on the labels for 5 straight days at 35 amps and on the 5th day it was 412 seconds on my GFX.

Danny,
Do you have any thoughts on the Tekin tray. I'm interested on how 3800's will react to being left on a tray at .5 volt per cell for more than a day vs. storing at .9/5.4 per cell/pack.

You should lose runtime by keeping them on a tray for awhile. This is why we reccomend to leave them at .90 per cell and then tray them just before you go to charge them.

I was thinking about what you said dumping the packs on the track i did that a few times, would that be the lost of runtime?.

NiMh cells don't like to be deep discharged under high loads. So dumping your pack on the track will most likely remove some runtime. If you do dump a pack on the track and had no choice because you were in a race bring back your car in the pits and put back 100 seconds of charge back in the pack and let it rest with this charge back in. This could help.

I'm sure your packs are fine as runtime isn't really a problem in most classes.

Are these cells IFMAR approved? Just curious, as no one is running IB cells in the 2005 World Cup.

I know the IB are supposed to be kept to 0.9v/cell, but has anyone tested the results as to traying them and leaving them at 0v? Would this simply kill the cells or take off runtime? Thanks.

The IB3800s were not submitted in time for them to be approved in Europe. Only the IB3600s and VTEC3700s are legal. We had 2 drivers at the Orion Speedweeks who used IB3600s with good results and we will have 5 drivers attending the DHI cup with IB3600s.

Expect to lose 50-100 seconds of runtime by keeping the voltage down on IB cells.

It's been done and yes it hurts the cells. Generally you lose a lot of run time and gain nothing.
