Bump Steer
As many of you probably have already noticed, there is a huge amount of bump steer in the F201. Considering I have two cars, one carbon and one TCS, I have tried, and succeeded, to remove the bump steer in my carbon car moving around certain linkages. But the TCS car is the challenge. With all the rules governing the class, there is limited things that you can do and still be legal. The bump steer problem was addressed with Tamiya and I have been given differing views. Since removing the bump steer requires moving and/or altering the steering linkage, it starts to go into the "gray" area of interpretation. Altough you can safely alter the position of the ball end on the steering knuckle, you CANNOT alter the position of the ball end on the bell crank. The rules state that we can shim parts to take out slop, but we cannot shim parts to alter geometry. If the geometry cannot by changed, then by inverting the ball end of the knuckle be deemed legal?

I don't know if this has been mentioned earlier and I don't plan to go through 43 pages of posts to check but...
There is a solution to bump steer if your NOT racing TCS. FPM makes a steering linkage that is bent so that the ball stud on the steering knuckle mounts underneath the knuckle instead of on top. It works well enough but it's not TCS legal and it's no longer a turnbuckle so adjusting front toe is more of a hassle. Unfortunately without a total redesign of the front suspension I really don't see a way to cure the problem.

i just use sloppy ball ends and pivit balls, that way when you hit a bump it doesn't matter

I have created a F2001 blank set-up sheet in pdf or visio format. email me through rc-tech if you want a copy of it. Any and all suggestions are most welcomed... You can use this for all F2001 cars ( cross/3racing/etc )...

I'm moving to our new house next week ( almost a year in building process ) from our townhouse so I can really set up a nice hobby room and not worry about space!!!
