Recall he had a couple of meetings with the conversion, while making changes, before trying the soft version.

Whichever version, it means paying out for an expensive TC, then at least half as much again for a conversion which puts BD7 parts on it.
That's a lot of expense.

Haven't (knowingly) seen a BD7 on asphalt yet.
