HI,
I am looking for new tires for my old Serpent 950R. I'm not sure if the rims for the newest models are the same, so if I buy tires with rims for 960 or 966, will fit for sure.
If anybody has the answer, please help me.

2. As the numbers increase (25 degree, 30, etc) the tyre is harder?

3. Normally, the rear tires are softer, or has to be the same as front?

No....950R or even the early 960 using the old 1/8 offset rim....Serpent release the OS2 hub and changed to the current wheel offset. If you need something for 950R you must get those OLD offset rims....mainly are the BBS spoke looking neon yellow thingy.

You are correct...lower the number, softer they are, but the tire wear are faster too...

Depends on the track condition...fully well prerp track, you can use something 35/35....if lower traction, you will drop down to 32s or even 30s...but there are just WAY too many combination that you can use depends on the track condition, car setup and bodies...I used alot of 35/35 with sometime 35/37 and 30/35.....and because of that, I can no longer afford to race this class...LOL

Hi,

Well it depends. After the 950R they put a simple shim in front of the caster block instead of the thicker alum spacer that was there before and was shaped to match the shape of inside of the wheel. If you have the simple shim it should fit, I saw a guy who was using recent matrix tires and they fit just fine.
But if you have the older spacer that I described the newer rims won't fit. I had that problem with my 950 and I simply dremeled the aluminum quick-change lever (shaved off roughly 2mm) to make more space to fit the new larger wheels. That way I can put Matrix wheels, they fit perfectly now.

Anyone knows to rebuild the 950R so new tires fit to it, if im right the older rims get other offset

I know with the 960 they used the Mugen lower arm and the Mugen upright to convert the car to the OS2 rim.

But if you have the Serpent rims you can remove the rubber and buy new donuts most tire companies have.

Yes i have 4-5 pairs of rims but where can i find new produced donuts?
