Default The Kyosho Inferno GT/GT2 VE Race Spec ELECTRIC on road 1/8th thread

After searching around quite a bit, i didnt see any dedicated thread to this awesome 1/8th electric. There is a thread in the nitro forums, but this one deservers a section in electric now that you can buy it rtr brushless.

Here are some stray threads on this questions around this car
http://www.rctech.net/forum/search.p...rchid=15341857

My current setup is:
a) Novak Activ8 esc with the Ballistic 8 1.5y motor
This was a major improvement over stock. MUCH smoother acceleration and braking.
b) 4s 4100 packs (in the mail)
c) ko propo KIY radio with 4ch rx --
d) mylaps rc4
e) Novak capacitor
f) rear leds are brake activated using a Pico switch (throttle mixed in with Ch 3).

All threads are useless without pics so here are a couple of quick shots of my lighting mod:

So just to get the conversation going here. yes the rc is painfully slow stock on 2-3s.. So 4s is a must.. im still playing with different KV motors and pinions. i did try a high kv 550 can and it was super fast but very in-efficient.. not a good setup for longer runs/racing.

im planning on keeping the 1.5y 1950 kv novak and matching it with the right pinion. the stock pinion is 17t.

i have pinions on order 15-through 20.. so im hoping to test with a whole bunch. A higher kv (2600) motor is an option but not efficient for straightaways less than 130-150 feet. you want to have reached top rpm by the time you need to brake near the end of the straight.

Looks NICE, let see pics under the hood !!!

I just recieved same car over the weekend RTR ,mine came with a 18t stock . I hooked up a 3s on the rtr 2000kv system seemed slow , I havnt decided to keep the system or sell it new and throw either my CC 2200 or 2650. I had put the car on stand to try system out of box , after takin car off stand noticed diff fluid on bottom chassis by center diff . Have to check it out , also got differnt bodies for it , the ceptor doesnt seem scale like other kyosho GT bodies , well see how others come out . dunno if ill have time to put leds because after one run of bashing the leds usually fall out somway .

i would recommend selling the system new.. regardless of kv, i found the sensored Novak setup to be a lot smoother than stock. What is that other red car ? looks HOT!

Might even need to pinion down to a 16T on 4s.. dont know, so i ordered 15 through 20.. just in case. I think the KV is fine. Its just a 4s car.

im also going to change the body to the mclaren gtr.. my ceptor has been through a lot already. Will post more pics tomorrow

OH.. and the stock tires are the pits.. i hated them, very hard, no traction esp in sub 50F weather.. A couple of us here have this car and have been happy with the sweep racing 45 exp slicks.

red car is inferno GT1 body Ferrari F430 on my GTP car . I was actually thinking of running the Castle 2200 on 6S on the GT2. I think with low enough gearing it will have better accelteration the 2650 on 4S on the straight and keep system cooler . just my guess ill find out when weather breaks

nice. yeah.. on 6s it should be very efficient with the right gearing and most definately FAST.

I should have my 4s batts by thursday/friday, so can wait to try a few things myself.
