I've been attending some indoor races so far with my rango and now the next 4 races with the TLR will also be on carpet... I'm looking forward to build and setup this badboy

While I had been running a 5.5turn VST2 550 2 pole Team Orion on our medium-small outdoor track, I did us a 4600kv 540 4 pole VST2 Orion for indoor carpet racing so far... seemed to have enough speed and power.
But when I look at the (US) Nats or EOS and other large races, the pro drivers seem to race 2 pole 550 cans more often? Is there a reason for that?

Thanks,
Dave
A lot has to do with personal preference. 2 pole motors are smoother and accept timing boost better so some guys prefer that to the 4 poles. Plus they're easier on batteries. Both motors you mentioned should be roar legal, it's the 550 4 poles that aren't.

Quick question,

When using shocks to limit droop, is there anything special I need to do to the shocks? (other than adding an extra couple turns to the eyelet?)

Thx

Nope he is running the MIP spur.

Both setups I have posted on my site have 0 inserts all around in the front.

Rear end we have been running 3 deg antisquat (1's up in the front) and 3 deg or toe in (0's) for the rear pivots.

Nope. Just make sure the set screws in the arms don't touch anything.

Just the plastic pieces work though. The balls are not the write size but this gives you more rod ends for a little less money

Make sure you screw the set screw all the way into the plastic piece FIRST and then what ever is left thread into the alum rod. they last much longer this way.

Speaking on 550 2-pole motors; I've never used one but speaking on turns, what would be best? higher or lower # of turns?
For example, for a large outdoor track with medium grip? Currently using a 4600kv but wanted something a little faster. Thanks

Lower number means faster motor. You would be looking at getting ahold of a 4.5T. 2pole will have a little more top end and resond a little better to timing advance in the ESC then 4 pole so on a large open track they can have better top end but you will be giving up a little on the bottom to a 4 pole. Just giving you the pro's and cons.

So I recommend a Tekin SC4X 4.5T motor.

There is a little bit of a weight penalty to going 550 as well. Just putting it all out there.

Casper do you have a setup for a outdoor smooth med-high grip clay track with 1/8 scale style jumps?

We run the latest Dunford setup in all conditions (www.casper-rc.com). OCRC is med high grip with some big jumps from time to time. We basically ran that setup everywhere last year for the JBRL with great success. The only changes were going to high grip blue groove.

I just got an interessting answer from a former Durango pro driver - he said, since only a few of the 1/10 racing ESC's that they have to use do support 4 pol, they just run 550 2 poles (EOS races etc.)

Finally got my SCTEN 2.0 and have finished building the front section. For the diff screws M2.6 x 10 can anybody recommend a good replacement set? I nearly stripped one of the screws even so I was really careful... Thanks!

Will the X-rings for the 22 shocks work in the 2.0 SC?
