I think the ESC can make a difference, I found a Tekin RS in blinky had significantly less punch than a cheapy LRP Spin on blinky with the same motor. Most ppl where I race either run the LRP X20 or the Thunder Power, a few of us tried the Schurr Speed and the Trinity D3.5 and they were dogs, bugger all top end and when you geared them up you lost your punch out of the corners.

Yeah, the RS definitely has a soft low end feel, I did not like it. A $50 Justock felt like it had more punch and drive out of the corners.

Anyways, running an eXpress Killshot motor. It is the HT stator with 12.5 HT rotor. Has so much pull out of the corners and can be geared like crazy and still run cool.

For those that don't think the Trinity D3.5 17.5 is not you fast need to work at it a bit more. At our track the the top 3 drivers are all about .1+ faster on average with this motor, hence the reason in the US ROAR made it illegal, and for some reason re-made it legal for a short period of time.

IIC this year has also made all D3.5's illegal so I've been testing a few motors lately to find what I like. Limited different types; Thunder Power red rotor, D3 HT rotor, Mach 2. I've found the Reedy Mach 2 to be quit good and my motor of choice for IIC so far. 3.8 FDR, 32 deg timing seems to be the ticket on a technical 96x42ft track.

I got a RevTech Maxilla arriving soon to test, well see how it compares. Many say this is the fastest motor out there that's ROAR legal.
