Also check out the OS XZR range (Ver 2 and Speed). Brilliant engines. Powerful, extremely stable, excellent run times and relatively cheap to rebuild. My personal favourite!

Haven't been there about a year. Thought they closed it down, cuz the driver's stand were taken out.

Silver Bowl Raceway was run by 4ACES/ Team Taylor Racing for years. I even don't see them in business either. Geuss the county of Vegas didnt renew the lease. All the on-road tracks had closed. ROAR region lost Sun Valley and Crystal Park, Revelation in Pomona went Off-road a couple years back. I dont even remember if Ron Paris Memorial was held last year.

As for engines, NovaRossi, Max, RB. RB is my prefferance. Been running RB since 1999.

duh702GT.....

Just seeing a little interest mentioned for the track at Silverbowl brightens the day!

It's been over a year but I had my wife take a photo of the track after the rumors flew over the loss of the race program there. The stands and lane dividers were gone and some concrete 'jersey barriers' were placed where the driver stand used to be. Some kind soul had painted the track layout so it can still be used. (take your broom and leaf blower!)

I love your enthusiasm and got a chuckle out of the thought of you trying to 'ring-out' a 9 port NovaRossi down there........I would say 'waaaay too much motor'!!!! I was at the last race down there with my GT and saw the radar gun catch around 65 mph for the max on the straight for 'Spooky's' GT. More than that and he would have 'attained orbit' by way of the parking lot at the sweeper.

Check it out....keep us posted.....If you are going to run some GT down there....I'm not opposed to getting out of this snow and chasing you around the track!!!!!

You don't really need the 'killer motor' on that track, you would on some of the Texas venues....those guys like BIG. Another option is to watch the buzz for the Timezone GP (July) that has had a $200 limit on the motor but is a race you'd never forget.

Keep us posted.......(scary_jerry 3d place IGT 'A' main Silverbowl GP)

Thx for the info jerry! I'm dead serious I will rebuild that damn track! I'm going to make flyers for the shops to post up seeing if I can get some local support and help from everyone bcuz at shops here I always here people talking about that track an how they wish it never went down hill. Im really it shouldnt take to much to get it back up to running condition unless its a disaster but like I said its been 2 years since I last seen it in person an a lot can change in that time. As far as the motor I'm getting I got a local guy here name Marty who has a novarossi plus 35 .21 slightly used for $250 so I'll probably end up getting that and just try an tame it down a bit. Believe me I'll keep you posted on the track an I better be seeing you out here when the track is ready.
I'm gonna go down to the track tmrw on my day off and take some pix I'll post them for you jerry.

A whole bunch of GT drivers here are saying.......'SWEET'. We've been hoping for the rebirth of the Silverbowl track. The Utah contingent to come down will probably grow to about 10 or 12 if you guys can get that track back up and running. I think 'Grenade' over in Colorado would bring out a half dozen for a race. The California gang would make it a 'full-house'.

That deal on a NovaRossi sounds nice.....like you say, get used to the speed before you blast into the end of that straight!!!! My son that I got into GT called me from Porter, Texas and said 'wow dad, you wouldn't believe the speed of this 9 port.....', he admitted he piled it up.

It has made us curious as to why the local racers weren't able to utilize that piece of 'racetrack' before now.

Best Wishes in your pursuit......yes, keep me posted.

I'm hoping you really get the GT bug.......I'll come down with a full gallon for 'track-time'.

Local people in Vegas would like to see it revived. If you know who manage it before, They would like it to be handled better. He was hard to get along with anybody.
Track needs work. Refinish ofreasphalt. They did patch work of brush on stuff, real crappy. Permits From EPA, and porta-potty. And thing that the county does since on county park & recreations. Alot of politics, Find out to biuld permenant drivers stand, or container they had before. Maybe drive by it tomorrow. I'd like to see it Back to ROAR Region 12, And Ron Paris Memorial Race..

I want to get it back up I bet there is tons of people here and Utah Arizona California that would come an race. I'm going down tmrw to see if I can find someone to talk to or get some info on plans for it. To be honest ive been searching sites all day an can't find anything even about it or who runs it.
I'll keep trying though.
I WILL NOT GIVE UP!!!!!

Being in the hobby since 1980. Been coming to Vegas for 16 years. Region 10 & 12 ROAR. LA racers would like to see Vegas with Big races like they used to. Even Hawaii would like to, cuz its Vegas!!! I lived here in Vegas the last 5 years. Havent been down to Silver Bowl the last year, cuz I saw it deteriorate.
I believe ROAR Region 10 & 12 need a permanant track again. N. Cal Has Roseville!! Sac area. Just the EPA and politics, and sponsotships i.e. airtronics, Serpent, Mugan, and electric!!!
Only thing is bad. Too close to residence!! They could have petitioned it out and lost the lease!! Just a brainstorm. Property of closed car dealerships on Sahara, look good for a track. Parking there, Pit under the garage area, Bathrooms there, Hobby shop in the building. Noise & EPA its in the business district!!!

I'm Rambling!!!

Now its on to the motor!! Cuz I don't care what people say that stock .28 motor was pure junk! slow no bottom or top end and couldnt hold a tune to save its life!
Basically the track down here nobody ever uses an its nice size so i figure I'll rip it up on my days off.
I love how serpents and mugens run fast around the track but I cant stand the way they look with that dumb looking body just MY OPINION don't take offensive to it.
So I want my kyosho gt2 to zip around the track like that while still looking like a cool rc car!

I <3 MY IGT ahaha
+1 cant stand those bodies either!! I like the long chassis and realistic bodies! here is my Vette and im painting up an R8LM today.

I am powering it with an OS XZ-R speed so you should throw that in the mix Too OS has been around for a looooooong time!

Smile Vegas Track

Oh.......if one of the Casino owners could get involved like Bill Bennet of Circus Circus did for aircraft.......sponsoring many events over the years as he did. He remains on my HERO list.

The Las Vegas track at Silverbowl should not die but I understand Geezatec's point. If Las Vegas Airport has building up under their flight path, we'll have to come to Vegas on 'Greyhound' !!!!.

duh702GT.....approach cautiously because the easiest answer from 'government' is 'NO'. Proof of the 'best good' will be on your (our ) side.

Excitement of planes flying over, are F18 or F22's from Nellis AFB. Flying over during Bowl Games or Motocross at Boyd Stadium. lol!!! Trip is watchin the fighter jet banking over Boulder City(Henderson) and coming back at over mach over Vegas!! At that time no commercial flight over Vegas!! As bad as AF1 w/The President!!!!! Its Vegas Baby!!!
