Hi,

There is a new class in my local club, "Touring Stock" they are triying to use the Silver Can 540 motor.

What do you recommend me about my TA05 Gear Ratio.

Thanks

I noticed the standard TA05 body mounts are Discontinued on the Tamiya website. Is there another kits body mounts that fit that is still in production?

I'm using a final drive of just over 5:1 and it works nicely. I'm not racing it though. Top speed (taped on my GPS) is 23 MPH using 70/30 on my ta05 IFS with a 540J motor and 4600 NiMh battery.

It just temporarily out of stock. That used to be the case for the aluminum blue bulkhead, but I got my email notification that they're back in stock.

If you're looking for only the posts, you can also use the TA05 V2 parts;

TB Evolution 5 B parts #51253.

The front bumper mount is a little different but the posts and battery holder are the same.

Look around at the parts listing for any of the TA05 series for your body posts (among a lot of other interchangeable parts) and you'll be surprised at what you will find . . .

Hope any of this helps

The Evo V posts will fit the shock tower, but they are not as offset as the original posts, so you'll have to enlarge the body holes a bit or risk body tucks. I'm speaking from experience...

I raced what we call 540 pro here in Oz for a couple of years with as Ta05 and used a ratio around 4.0:1. It all depends on the track really. At that ratio the motor will come off hot, you really have wring the little motors neck to be fast. Use a motor fan too. I lent my ta05 to a friend on the weekend to race with, and he won in that class. The car had been sitting on the shelf since january, they go well the old ta05's in those lower speed classes.

Thanks for the info guys. Guess I will have to wait and see if it comes back in stock. I will also see if my LHS can get them from our local distributor. Maybe they still have some left.

Default TA05 for sale

I posted this in my local 'for sale' thread but wanted to let you guys know as well.

I have a barely used TA05 for sale...$60.00.No body, noelectronics, two sets of tires. I bought it with the idea of running carpet but dirt is where I have the most fun. Make it a parts car or a VTA...it's cheap enough to have as an extra.

Thanks guys...PM me if you are interested...I can email you some photos.

I can ship it to the lower 48 UPS ground for $5.00.

Hi Guy,

Anyone here have tried using Gear diff for their car. I'm referring to the one manufacture for the photon car. It looks small but not sure if it could fit.

Tried to upload the pic but fail.

My motor started to made a kind of clicking noise last nite at the track......So to play it safe I got a slightly used 7.5 Team Epic Du02 Platinum Brushless Modified motor I think I will try........Any one know anything about these motors and what is a good spur and gear combo to run.

Are you sure it was the motor clicking? I have seen the center spur gear screws back out a tad and rub the cover and make a clicking noise. Might be worth a check.

Will have to pull out the center spur and check everything........Ran one 4000Mah battery pack thru it...... But when I put in the next pack the clicking started......Really hope it's not my motor, but just in case I got the 7.5 motor......I hate to have to go home early because of problems......Really dont need the extra power of the 7.5 but the guy gave me such a good deal.
