Tamiya TA05 Touring Sedan

If anybody is interested, I'de be willing to sell the chassis upgrade kit I have pictured above. Unfortunately I don't have the money to switch over to lipo for some time, so I can't really use it right now...
And if you don't already have the standard P2020 chassis, I think it only cost another $30 (direct from Penguin) for the rest of the parts to make this a full conversion kit for your tub-chassis TA05.
Feel free to PM offers.

The IFS-R makes a surprisingly nice companion to the 416, because they share SO many parts.
I read through nearly this entire thread, and I see so many people spending more on these cars than they would on a "top" level sedan. Isn't there a lot of fun in doing more with less? I guess we'll see.
I think the real gem in the whole thread is this post by Ling.

I wonder if that kid is still winning races with his TA05?
Mine started out as a base TA05. I tried all the R parts and the carbon chasis.
Oddly enough, after weeks of testing, I settled on the carbon chasis with the base TA05 stock suspension, TRF shocks w/AE springs (purple/blue), and 48mm swing shafts.
If Tamiya could just somehow include the universals with the base kit AND improve their parts support just a little bit they would probably double their TA05 sales!

So, TAM53991 is the reinforced "N" parts for the IFS-R. The tree includes a rear shock tower, but obviously not a front one since it's IFS. Is there a front shock tower made from the reinforced plastics? Clearly I can just go to the CF towers, but I was kinda having fun building a CF-free car.

Hey Adam! All the plastics that come with the IFS-R are the reinforced stuff. If you want the original style TA05 carbon reinforced front and rear tower (traditional positioning) go with this.. http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/ite...oduct-id=49388

The IFS-R has all carbon reinforced plastic parts (except the tub which is glass reinforced).
The TA05-R has all carbon reinforced plastic parts (except the tub which is glass reinforced) including standard front and rear shock towers. This part can be bought and is a "limited edition" 49xxx part number (I think).
Regular TA05 has ABS plastic parts and a glass reinforced tub...

dont bother to sand anything. I use an Orion Platinum 4800 and it only sits about 5mm higher than my regular 6-cell Ni-Mh pack. Just flip the battery strap over to the smooth side, raise your battery posts to compensate for the increased height, and you're ready to go. as stated before, the increased center of gravity will be canceled out by the fact that you just shaved off 200+g of weight.

I ordered a front one want and ti screw kit, only took 6 days to receive and costs a lot less. Here's where I bought: http://stores.ebay.com/Rdvtg-Hobbies
