Tamiya TA05 Touring Sedan

I just run around the local parking lots and get together with a buddy now and then. I don't get to race. Is there any benefit to running any spools or one-ways or anything like that for my purposes? I know what a spool is, kinda not exactly sure what a one way is, or how either of them affect how my car drives. Anyone care to educate me? Even if you say I'd be better off with what the TA05 gives me out of the box, I'd still like to understand better.
thanks,
eric

They are simply different options for tuning the behavior of the car. Pretty much a complete waste of your money if your just bashing in a parking lot.
A one allows the front wheels to turn faster than the rear wheels if need be. This means it removes any and all braking effect from the front wheels which typically causes the car to swap ends when the brakes are applied (like 2WD). This is good for getting around tight corners in a hurry, but that's about it.
- A center one-way still allows differential action on acceleration and deceleration by retaining the front diff.
- A front one-way acts more like a spool on acceleration, and an open diff on deceleration.
- A front & center one-way together allow the front belt to spin more freely thus reducing drag, and are typically used on top level racing where a front one-way setup would be desired.
All this is useless for parking lots...

Thank. The only part I truly understand is the part where you said it was worthless for parking lots. I suppose that is the part I really need to know anyway.

I think parking lot drifting is a lot of fun, as long as we have good pals to run with~

+1, you'll need a very open and flowing track to make use of a one way and you wont have so much braking with a one way of any description. Its all personal preference but I prefer the spool

Hey folks. Almost finished with the build of my new TA05-R and could use a hand...
I got the 1 way diff and the instructions show the use of spacers between the diff and outdrives, and also shows the use of the pink sponge (cut in half) in the outdrive itself.
Problem is with the spacers and pink sponge halves in place, I can't snap the turnbuckles in place (using the factory lengths).
So, I have either 2 options...
1) Skip the spacers and use the pink sponge halves, or
2) Skip the pink sponge halves and use the spacers
I chose option 2, but my LHS who races the exact car uses option 1. He said either is ok.
Which would you guys do and why?

hey guys,
got a problem with a lipo fitting issue. the battery compartment is not long enough for my lipo. its a hyperion 4250 pack, 7.4 volts. its a bit to long. its about 4-5 mm too long. has anyone done any dremmel work on their stock
chassis to make this type of lipo fit.
that is the 3 cell version, but the length is the same.
thanks guys.
