I have bent the suspension shafts after meeting a wall, and the difference it makes to the ride height can be a couple of millimetres, as well as slightly changing toe-in angles and so on. This can lead to amusing handling characteristics, especially when trying to take chicanes at speed...
I imagine that this would stop the pins from bending in a crash, so the handling would be consistent.
Still, it looks a bit wacky to me, and you have to hit the wall pretty hard to bend the pins enough to notice a difference, and the pins are really cheap / easy to replace.
You can even get the flash titanium ones, which dont appear to be much stronger http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/ite...oduct-id=53870, I wouldnt recommend them, the normal ones are fine, but these ones are like, gold coloured and everything

With the stock '05 you will break the plastic toe blocks before you bend the hingepin... well, so I found out anyway
Only get titanium hingepins if you're really trying to get the weight down, and even then I would get the titanium screw set first.
The trouble is, when you start going down the lightweight route, bar the titanium parts you will find it much easier to break stuff with the carbon l/w parts.
Keep the stock parts as much as you can and lighten the car up with titanium stuff (screws/pins) and a lightweight chassis of some description (Tamiya or 3rd party brand).
