I have run a similar battery before that is round on the bottom with the dimples, mine flew out of the car during a crash. Lesson learned to use a square edge pack if you are to use the strap. I understand you want to continue to use your current pack, but hopefully the flex characteristics of the chassis were not adversely effected. Good idea though.

The battery pack issue was a problem for me. I just zip tied the hook and loop for extra protection. The battery did come out twice.
I probably wrecked today going at least 15-20mph upon side impact and I was shocked, only the rear wheel cracked. I slid into the curb hard...
I put a 72T Spur and a 25T pinion in there for my 17.5T. Muuuuch faster.

My first breakage, I hit a track marker at full speed in 17.5 boosted with my S1, it was a clean break on the driveshaft. The chassis wasn't even tweaked!

This car is just sooooo forgiving to drive at my local track that it encourages you to push harder and harder into turns, really wheeling the car and putting the power down. We run an open stock class as the track surface really limits what you can reasonably run, I run boosted 17.5 but there is 13.5 boosted and 10.5 blinky too and my laptimes are consistantly 0.3-0.5sec a lap quicker than everyone else. Thats with an ORCA RX2 17.5 and Team Powers XPS Sport ESC running 45% boost.

That's exactly where my driveshaft broke as well. I didn't even hit anything when it came apart.
I recommend replacing it with the upgraded ones.

Here's my "heavy" battery holders. They came in at 28-30 grams each. Doing the rough math, it should be pretty dang close to dialed when finished. I think I'll have to make some sort of L bracket to keep the battery from sliding into the center of the car. I have some 1/8 delrin for that.
(I may or may not have a set or two extra...)

Broke another "Sport" driveshaft last night. Just driving down the back straight. Didn't hit anything.
Really sucked because I was running second in the A-main in USGT. Never been that high before.

Always the front. I would imagine the stress is greater up front.

driveshafts
I had three races where my front right driveshaft came apart where the pin goes through. Nothing broke, just the pin kept coming out. In my fourth heat, it stayed together. Don't know what caused the problem, but the Sport driveshafts are definetely not up to to the job. I used Tamiya Anti-wear grease in the holder to keep the joint lubricated. Spec R need to do something about this as they're a waste of time and money, and this is ruining the hobby for me, and by the looks of it plenty of others. Having a cheaper car is all well and good, but it has to be able to last a race.

Are the spendy Xray shafts worth the $$?
