So finally got around to pulling my old S1 apart to enter service as parts. I was amazed at how good all the parts still looked and how tight they all are after a season of crashing, I mean racing. Also surprising was that it took me 6-7 hours to build my new S1 but only just over 1 hour to pull the old one apart. Keep in mind that I do not use and power tools.

Will be debuting the new chassis on the 17th. Got to get a new body painted before then. Also Happy New Year Guys and Girls. Hope this new year brings you all a few TQ's

I've been nicking parts out of the new R1 Pro kit to keep the R1 on the track, bloody annoyed that one of the rear belt tensioners wasn't in the kit. It was all sealed, the bags inside the box & it had the factory seal on the box (which was undamaged). I've put in 7 orders since the 28th of December, 1 to TQ, 1 to A Main, 5 orders for various parts from Spec R, see which arrive first. Also got an order in for motor, speedie & servo from the US, now I'm looking at buying a 1/12th pan car too, so I'll be driving the R1 Pro & will have my nitro TC driving mates being 'guest' driver for the R1, MrJ & RDS- if you want a run with the R1, let me know, you can be 'guest' driver also one night.

Might take you up on that Wal. Just to see the difference between the 2 cars.
RDS already runs an R-1 Pro. Or at least one that was specced up from a base model over time.

Hey guys, what wheel offsets do I need for VTA with a javelin body, and will an xray antenna mount work for an r1, my used car didn't come with a mount and I don't wanna buy a bumper kit just to get the stock mount

Dan....VTA has its own standard offset...the fronts are 0 offset 26mm wide and the rears are 6mm offset 31mm wide. They will work with any of the VTA bodies no need worry about the offset there is only front and rears they are standard in VTA. Any antenna mount will work as long as it takes a 3mm screw...there are plenty of alum after market locking type mounts that you can use too.

For those of you that have had this car for a while, how do the plastics seem to hold up, as a new racer, i spend a decent amount in the walls. and my sakura xi sport spends more time broken than racing.. And looking for a good alternative.

Never has a problem with plastics other han ballcups. I might also investigate alternative hingpins as they do seem to break. Im sure most cars use the same size. Nice thing about spec r is the holes for the outboard ones are drilled through so if you find a pin that fits but maybe a little long? No biggie.
Get tamiya ballcups right away though. And a stronger servo arm/saver.

A less powerful motor would be a nice alternative ;-)

I have never broken a part but a friend of mine who just had his first race broke every time

Seems to be all related on how you hit things and get hit. At least spares are cheap from TQ and Spec-R

Picked up an R1 and been getting it assembled over the last week.

Wheres a good spot to dig up some setup sheets on this car? Im running 17.5 blinky on low grip carpet and am looking for a few setups to compare and find a happy starting point for me.

Thanks.

Kit setup is nice place to start. I personally thought it drove a little loose at my home track but I am more or less still there.
