Just make sure you measure your centre/middle ride height at the front of the rear pod. For a long time I was measuring under the battery causing the the car to scrape on our asphalt tracks.
I don't know about the battery tabs, but I mount the battery transverse and as far forward as possible. Use double side tape and battery tape to hold the battery in.

I would try this stuff individually, not make a boat-load of changes and then run the car. You may find a happy medium. Or you might find you have taken all the steering out.
[Assuming you're running the kit (manual) setup]
Front suspension adj:
Try not doping your front tires (if you are). Or, only dope about the inner 1/3.
Try running 0* to 0.5* of toe-in.
Change Reactive Caster from 10* to 5*
Change caster from 3.25* to 1.80* (esp if your running on high grip carpet)
Also, important is to run -1* camber... running more can make the car very twicthy, especially on turn-in to a corner. Maybe even back it off to -0.5* if you can, and go from there.
Rear adj:
Adjust the rear pod so it is level with the main chassis as it sits with all electrics (batt included). This could be a whole lot of explanation here. . .
To slow down the car transitioning (hopefully making it more stable) use a thick lube in the side tubes.
Hope some of that helps. Without knowing what tires you're running, the surface, and whether or not you are running the battery transverse or in-line it's all really just blind suggestions.

Another thing...
If you are running high grip (ie., new CRC black carpet) you tend to want a "soft" setup with no droop. Generally .5mm to 0. If you are running on the old gray carpet, then you can go with a "stiffer" setup and say 1mm [or so] of droop.
You may want to have someone show you how to tweak the chassis. Does it turn much better one way than the other??
And again, have fun. 1/12 scale pan cars are the VERY FREAKIN' BEST! Be careful, they're addictive (I have 5 of them )
p.s. Does the steering servo have any Ackerman in it, or rather, are your steering tie-rods straight across, or do they have a slight angle to them??
Ackerman angles can greatly affect steering and steering response. Ackerman is more than just that though (save it for someone smarter than me). Generally though, Ackerman changes the pivot point of the rear of the car. Try and run with little - to no Ackerman (or angle on your steering linkages, in other words make them straight across).

Im running at 360 v2 witch is crc carpet its where stock wars is going on i was saucing the fronts full ill try not any sauce to outer edge and then inner edge to see the differences on that first.
We are on spec bsr tires also and they were trued to 41mm and by the end of the night they where down to 39 almost 40 mm so about 1.1 mm wear for the night witch isnt bad i guess

If it's the new CRC black carpet Ver 2, then definitely have someone at your track show you how to adjust droop and sag. They are 2 different things and I'm not smart enough to type it out. I could maybe explain it in person with a car and setup board.
Try changing your caster from 3.25* to 1.80*. You can even mess with your D/R a little more. We run on the old gray carpet (medium grip at best, and it's about 25 years old) and my D/R is on 45%.

This is the setup i would start with
Front
.18 springs
-.5 camber
5deg reactive caster
Small shim forward for static caster
Rear
35wt shock oil
Blue shock spring
.5 rear droop
Grean or black side springs ( no preload )
Battery inline
15k in tubes
3.2 ride hight all around
Dope full rear and start with 1/3 inside of fronts.
This is the setup Joe Trandel gave me and it helped alot on the black crc carpet
