Just picked up a 5.2 to start building...Last time I ran 12th scale they had just started this new fad of brushless motors (still not sure if that's going to stick).

For those using the Futaba BLS651 or 9650, are you mounting these with the mounting ears attached to the case (the horizontal ones)

Is the Slapmaster thrust bearings still recommended for building the diff?

Default building

Futaba S9650 IS perfect and attatach mounts to lugs, centres perfectly.
thrust race isn't needed doesn't do any thing for the diff perfect with out it.

Brushless is here to stay I don't know of any one running brushed.

Default Just finished...

Here is my new 12R5.2 build, it’s setup for blinky 17.5. This is my re-entry into 1/12 scale carpet racing after taking an 18 year break. I can’t wait to hit the track.

Very nice wiring job GreenHell. I never thought about putting receiver pack on battery side. It doesn’t touch side link?

Default xti vs. 12r5.2

Have any of you racers run the XTI and the 12R5.2? I am thinking heavily of getting a 12R5.2 or XTI. Any help would be great.
Thanks and God Bless

Thanks. There is still plenty of clearance between the link and the battery.

Anyone care to share a pic or two of the 9650 or BLS651 mounted to the lugs?

Just picked up the Hobbywing 3.1 1S esc to go in the car. THIS speedo is going to be NICE! No external booster or cap?!! I've been in Hong Kong all week and keep going back to the hobby shops spending money...I need to leave soon before I'm broke!

Those hobbyshops are like candy stores, especially in Japan

Here's one from a few years back

Oh...I thought they were mounting them with the horizontal lugs, not the vertical. Can it be mounted with the horizontal lugs?

Less like candy and more like crack actually.
