I'm glad you're doing this, for many years this chassis has been hopeless to alot of people. The way you're doing it, looks like you can throw a TC body and run with the high end cars. Great job keep it up!

I'm working on a LiPo battery voodoo list = From what I read in the forums here (primarily for VTA) it will show SPECS, pricing & fit / no fit situations that reguire more modding.

I have trouble fitting the Venom 2000 mAh 20C batteries or others of the same dimension. They will go but are tight. The Venom 5000 mAh 30C fits snugly but is easier to get in and out because of the case design. I had to chip off some of the swing bracket on each side to allow the plugs to be accessible. Not a difficult mod.

I plan on running mine in USGT and the son is racing his in USVTA. The mods you are offering here have made the difference.

I felt this way too early on about the hopeless part. Every race something broke or came loose. I was struggling just to finish a heat. Steering was difficult at best. I just shelved my HPI and got an Associated TC4. This taught me what the issues were as I had some trouble with the TC4 but not nearly as much. This forum and especially Marv's work have helped me resurrect the HPI Sprint 2 so my son can race his and actually do well. He's not winning too many races yet, but he's still learning to drive as am I. At least now he can get around the track and not have to fight the car. Just being able to finish a heat makes so much of a difference. Now we can work on the finer points of driving and set-up and get mine back on the track too.

I'll have to re-read the sacred scrolls aka "The ROAR Approved Battery List" to see what HARD CASE approved batteries will and won't fit the S2.

So far, all will require the Belt Lifter Mod and a Battery Holder Mod.

I'm not surprised by that fitment issue at all Bill. I have the same issue with my JRX-S R's. I have a Losi 5000 30c that fits perfectly but judging by the dimensions published at various retailers most any 5000 mah battery that has a C rating equal to or higher than 40 is just barely too large to fit. I ended up buying Turnigy Nanotech 40c 4200mah packs. They fit in the confines of the car and still provide plenty of runtime for racing. Plus, they're lighter due to the smaller capacity.

I did a dry run on the mod; disassembly, relocation, etc.

Once I get a HARD CASE LiPo, do the mod, take the pictures and write it up I'll post it - That may be around the end of next week (hopefully).

Revised Setup Sheet

Areas for FRONT & REAR SHOCK (type) has been added.

CLOCKS for SUN direction & WIND direction have been added.

A box for (GMP aluminum) 8° C Hubs has been added.

The left CHASSIS graphic has been edited to include lines for componant weights; ESC, RX, MOTOR, SERVO & BATTERY.

FRONT & REAR axle type boxes have been added.

FRONT & REAR CAMBER boxes have been added.

The section for MOTOR, ESC, Tx, Rx info and NOTES has been revised.

Items in GREEN are the settings that my car particular HPI Sprint 2 Sport came with out of the box.

These may or may not be the same as yours.

However, its a good as place as any to go back to basics.

Only the rear camber link setting differs from the enclosed OEM manual with what was actually on the car.

This voodoo comes from Iowa -

I found this gem posted over on the Iowa Fast Track forums for download Fri Mar 11, 2011 7:18 pm by jaybird.

It is an FDR Calculator done in the Micrsoft-Excel 97-2003 Worksheet format.

Iowa Fast Track RC - RC racing in Iowa City

The authour is a guy named Doug Carter (jaybird?), the program's author date is 1-14-2008.

When you unzip the files = use the Copy of fdr_calculator.xls version for the HPI Sprint 2 = it has the correct internal gear ratio 2.13

It's real easy to use - scroll down to #26 HPI sprint 2 - place you cursor over SPUR box & click, type in spur size - move your cursor over the PINION box & click, type in pinion size, now move your cursor over the FRD box & click = FDR
