It looks like it's the aluminum 104 diff with 417 rings. The tire comes off to adjust.

Yes, that's what the first owners say...

"Tamiya has redesigned the diff hub to utilize the 417 diff rings. The rest of the diff assembles with standard F104 parts."

My goodness…

Let me elaborate or at least attempt to, the only difference between the Vir2 diff and the 104pro diff is the actual diff rings and the side of the hub they sit on. All the other components, assembly of the components and adjustments are just like the 104 pro diff. Yes, the wheel has to be removed to adjust the diff. Hope this helps.

That looks sweet!

All you need is the new Exotek front end and your set.

Very nice! Are the links the same length as the F1R?

Haven't had any issues with the 104 arms yet

Links are RM-01 parts, so yes same length as the AER5 links in the Exo kit

They might fit, the links are very close to the lipo, as Tamiya pulled them in as narrow as possible to clear the body, no trimming or hacking to clear the pods on this chassis, same 104 body pops right on, body mounts are in the same position as well

I used AE Front body post to keep the body hole dia the same for the rear mounts, the kit supplied post are from RM-01, so a a touch larger dia

Looks really good!

Can I place my ESC in that position with the V1?

Good job! I see noone is using original damper, is it so bad or why? Clever idea those AE post, they are from the 1:12 pan car or from which AE car are they?

Thumbs up

Put a few laps on the VII today at our local carpet track

Wow, so smooth, and stable

Base settings, kit shock, worked flawless

Found the Exotec aluminium nuts work well for holding the battery bracket
