I realize this is an old thread, and I did dig thru other threads as well, but I figure I would ask here since it is the thread about the F104 v2.
I am looking for a prepainted body or someone who does request, specifically of the Jaguar F1 schemes. I know of Bitty & F1PaintLab, but those are outside the US.

Has anyone tried to fit the jconcepts Layla body on thier 104? I'm trying to figure what I need to mount it up. Local track is running a LeMans class this spring. Trying to get so e use out of my f104v2Pro. Thanks

So I drug out my F104w again last friday. And again, I had a less than plesant time of running it.
To share my setup:
3racing 1.3mm flex plate
Tamiya F104 high temp tires
DRFT-303 steering servo
25.5 motor
TBLE02e ESC
Gold front springs
Tamiya Diff Grease on the damper plate
Slightly tighter than slipping diff setting.
Mini shock with stock mini spring in place of factory undampened spring.
Here's what I get:
The car, if it's got sauce on the tires, is drivable. Once the sauce has wiped clean, the car is undrivably tail happy. ON throttle, off throttle, the thing wants to swap ends.
last time I brought this up, it was indicated I should be looking at other tires.

It's worth mentioning that I tried out Gravity and CRC, and still had a very difficult time. Though that was before the soft flex plate.
I've got some... Shimazu, I think, which are in the F103 format. (is that the same as the modern tires? I haven't looked closely) I should give those a whirl, but I believe they're not class legal. I should look that up.

LCG packs
Thinking about trying a LCG 2s stick pack. The weight is the same as the shorty I'm using. 240g right down the middle moving the ESC to the left side pod, transponder and receiver to the right pod. I'll gain a little from it. The stick pack is 5200mah 120c vs. the shorty 4600 90c. I'm really liking the LMP bodies we are running this year.

Was looking to get one of these if I can run a shorty 2S lipo and a brushless system, was looking around and somewhere I read you have to use round corner batteries and only brushed systems, which to me makes no sense, if I can run regular shorty batteries can someone pleas post up some pics or point me in the right direction, will be running on indoor grey or black carpet if I get one of these. Thanks in advance for all help and info.

Time to resurrect an old thread, just as I've resurrected my F104 Pro vII.
Is there any good way to adjust toe on these without removing the turnbuckles? Between the limited room in the front arms and slop in the turnbuckle, I can barely get a quarter turn of the turnbuckle before my wrench hits one of the arms and then it's almost impossible to get the turnbuckle to try and turn it again. I've tried multiple tools and all sorts of angles and run into the same problem. Am I just missing something super easy? I don't want to have to remove the tie rod every time and reinstall a million times to get the desired toe. Thanks!
