I been havin issues with my 8 buggy..... Not sure if its my brake/throttle linkage not set right, or my clutch wearing out, but it seems that I cant get the car to idle on the starter box without the wheels spinning too much. And when I adjust the brake linkage to compensate, I have to raise the idle. I dont want to over-stress the motor if I am doing so..... Anybody have any tips for setting all this properly? Obviously I am kinda new to nitro but want to learn as much as possible. Thanks.

It is most likely your clutch. The Losi Buggies use 2 aluminum and 2 carbon shoe's so I am almost for sure that the carbon shoes have broke right where the pin goes through. Used to happen to me all the time. Take the clutch apart and I am sure that is what you will find.

Your clutch bearings are probably ceased. Either way the problem is in the clutch so start digging

Thanks for the info! I will definately pull it apart and more than likely replace the shoes and bearings. I've been wantin to get a nice race clutch assembly anyway....

Even if the bearings are fresh the wheels can spin a little on the box, it doesn't mean the clutch is engaged. There is just some friction in the bearings and if your drive train is really free it will spin the wheels a little. But ya, if at a lowish idle your wheels are spinning fast you probably have shot bearings or your springs might be too weak.

When you build your clutch make sure you do not break in the clutches by holding the car down. Most of the time that is what stretches the shoes. Also try not to rev the car up on the box and then slam the breaks. buddy of mine was having that issue and since telling him he has had zero issues with them breaking.

To be honest you should pull your clutch apart after every run. Last week I got lazy and decided not to check and my car was spinning on the box. I thought for sure it was a spring problem but found the front bearing ceased. Sucks when you have to pull your engine at the track.
