Default Cow Patty Race

Guys,

I was informed that the The Cow Patty Race in Arcadia, Florida have just included GT, I hope some of you can make it, to show the class is getting stronger and growing.

Clete, a smaller hole in front and larger in the rear will let the air out better and create better down force and cooling.

Exactly!
So my point is; I do not see the advantage of mandating a small hole in the front.. If a guy wants to cut a larger 3" hole.. be my guest... the gain really is not there..

Here we go nothing.

Clete made an observation regarding the diminished returns of having a large windshield opening and I agreed that we who have been racing GT cars have understood this for several years as well. Period.

It will only get out of hand if folks start personally attacking each other. Things are cool and should stay that way. Just don't jump to any conclusions; he just made a simple statement. No harm, no foul.

Clete,

As to keep the thread on track, when the GT class started in Texas back in 2009, those of us running agreed that a 2" diameter hole was too small for our cars (based on the ROAR TC rule). It was agreed upon by us back then to allow a 3" diameter hole in the front windshield, cut out any to all of the rear windshield, and cut out the front side windows (could not cut the back side windows on a 4-door sedean). Fuel guns were not allowed then so we did not worry about a fueling hole in the top of the car.

The same goes for all bodies that have a windshield.... once you put a hole in in.. the cars aero.. changes big time. 1/10 and 1/8....
I also think that having a huge hole or the back windshield fully cut out is a bad idea.... all that nice air dumping in trunk and not over the wing.. granted you want to keep the motor cool... BUT... keep in mind VELOCITY is important and will do a better job of cooling...

I am going to try using slots!
I will have a hole in at back.. but then a slot in the window.. low and not the full lenght... this would make the body weak.. this slot would/will le the air out.. but not reduce the overall PRESsure over the window and wing..

You're trying to be sneaky , Clete. Maybe I will spiral cut my rear so the wind pushes it out like a cone.

Spooky 1, what did you think of what I did on the Black, White, Orange body that I had with me in Houston? Think it would pass Clete's tech inspection???
