I was just wondering what everyone's opinions are for the best speed control for silver can racing. I am running an M05 and have started looking into different speed controls for it.

Any opinions would be great, thanks!

Folks at my local went through this years ago with f1/silvercan.
We were on foams and high grip carpet where every OUNCE of power
gained was noticeable.
I tried a lrp quantum 2,lrp qc3,novak gtx,novak spy, and a tekin fxr.

Hands down (for me) the lrp qc3 was faster with the gtx and fxr in a close
2nd.

I don't know why...just was. Lap times on the same layout/setup were faster.
Unfortunatly... I toasted it...

They are hard to find for a reason.

While the QC3 has the unique advantage (amongst brushed performance ESCs that it has a Lipo cutoff function), the GM V12XC is equal in every other aspect. I don't know how the others compare, but these two are the same physical size and offer the same resistance and max current. I have both and run both even with low turn motors and they won't disappoint.

Now the question of whether the silver can can benefit from it or how much is a different story. My opinion is that only a good silvercan will benefit form these EScs. An average silvercan can wipe out much of the capabilities of both.

The silver can is going to be trash after a hard race with either of these anyway, so have a good supply of fresh top notch silvercans handy is my suggestion. If you don't know why, just turn up the brake max setting on it and you'll see what happens.

Having used all the speedos previously mentioned I would say the KO VFS series speeods are the best for silver cans.

Have run some minis and gt2 classes with and without the stock esc
Teu101bk and teu104bk... Lap times were not much different
If anything the stock speediest are better because it's smoother than the snappy ones

I run the Castle Sidewinder SV2. It works well for me and is capable of brushed or brushless operation.

Jdroost, did you toast a lrp qc3 with a silvercan motor???? If so, I will stick to my IPC v7.1 ! The IPC SR is probably the best for stock Racing at a really cheap price if you can find it.......
