Default Soldering Iron

I was wondering what everyone uses for a portable soldering iron at the track? Do you use a butane powered one or a DC powered one? Im looking for a portable iron and just wanted to know what people are using.

Thanks for your time.

Thanks for the links.

Sorry i should have been more clearer I need something that is totally plug free because at the track I have no access to power so I need something that must use some sort of gas.

Thanks for your help again.

Best to use is; Master Ultratorch model UT-100Si.
Runs on butane for cig. lighters. Has a large resivor and adjustable heat. Hot enough to solder battery bars.
Have had one for 4 years with no problems.

Thanks for the link.

Another question can I use this butane soldering iron at home as well or should I just save up for a digital soldering station? I would rather just buy one unit than 2 expensive units and try to find power at the track somehow.

Does anyone remember, or even know of, a soldering iron that Tamiya did? It was 7.2 volt but could still do most jobs.

Trying to hunt 1 down but can't find 1 anywhere. Any clues?

I bought mine Tamiya's at Tower Hobbies couple years ago. I just modify it and use it with the supply. I think it is Hakko makes it for Tamiya. I saw one before in my local electronics stores...
